Marcus Baker (Felix Mallard) is a quiet, moody teenager in Ginny and Georgia, and it does not change in Season 2. He’s an enigma amongst his friends and family, and his sister, Maxine, continuously tries to get some humor out of him. Of course, Marcus has a dry sense of humor, and his elusive nature is probably what keeps Ginny attracted to him in the first place.

However, Season 2 felt pivotal for Marcus. We have the opportunity to understand him even more, and the truth behind the character is sadder than we thought.

Ginny and Marcus get together and officially enter a relationship in Season 2.

Despite Ginny stealing his motorbike, Marcus forgives her almost immediately. It doesn’t take long for them both to sneak into each other’s bedrooms late at night to hook up.

However, by the end of Season 2, Marcus and Ginny break up.

In Episode 8 of Season 2, we get inside the mind of Marcus. The character narrates. He talks about the darkness that shrouds him and how he struggles with reality every day. From the outside, he looks perfectly normal. On the inside, he’s harboring pain. Marcus is depressed.

Marcus is suffering with his mental health in Ginny and Georgia Season 2, and he’s unable to communicate his feelings until Episode 8, when he starts drinking a lot, which worries his sister Maxine.

The series conveys an important message to teenagers: speak. Do not suffer in silence. The writers have done a great job of presenting a moody, stereotypical teenage boy, only to reveal that under the layers, he’s struggling with depression.

By the end of Season 2, Marcus is on medication, and his sister and family are keeping an eye on him.

Ginny and Marcus break up in Season 2 because Marcus feels that the only part of his life that makes him happy is Ginny. He doesn’t want to put his entire happiness on one person. Marcus also feels it’s unfair to put that pressure on Ginny.

Ginny does not understand why he wants to break up with her at first, but once she learns that he’s struggling with his mental health, she offers to be his friend.
