We recap the Netflix K-Drama series Trolley Season 1 Episode 13, “Infidelity,” which contains spoilers.
Complete with revelations, twists, and everything in between, this episode of Trolley was as good as the show gets. It contained everything that made the series so engrossing in the first place and started to paint a clearer picture of where every character lies ahead of the final three episodes. If what follows can keep to this quality, we’re going to be in for a real treat of a finish.

Namgoong Sol’s Law, and Seung-hee goes public
Full of doubt, Hye-joo challenges Joong-do, desperate to find out whether he met Ji-hoon on the night of his death, or if he’s having an affair. The assemblyman, dumbfounded and upset, simply responds by claiming he cannot say where he was. Meanwhile, Woo-jae hears aides discuss the public support for the proposed “Namgoong Sol’s law,” but does also listen to Ja-young express her fear over Joong-do publicly admonishing the late Ji-hoon for his actions.
Suddenly, everything grinds to a halt, as it’s revealed Seung-hee’s post about Hye-joo’s “framing” of Seung-ho is gaining traction online. At the hospital though, Yoo-sin looks anything but convinced her “agony and grief” will soon be finished with.
Continuing, despite a shaken Hye-joo being told her past will now be left to the “court of public opinion,” she still wants more time to consider going on TV to tell her side of the story. That, and the book conservator refuses to trust her husband, shocked he’d seemingly rather have her believe he could be an adulterer instead of coming clean with the truth of his whereabouts on the night Ji-hoon died.
At a meal, Soon-hong assures Jin-seok he’ll allow “at least ten” of the Daehan Party’s pending welfare bills to pass the deliberation process. In exchange, however, he’ll need complete opposition to “Namgoong Sol’s law.” Elsewhere, Hye-joo decides she’ll sleep in Yeo-jin’s room for the night, away from her husband.
As Joong-do ponders what his response will be to Seung-hee’s online post, which he is told will soon be picked up on by the media and is “undermining” support for “Namgoong Sol’s Law,” Hye-joo flees her house to avoid questioning on whether she “drove” a student to his death by framing him. Concurrently, Seung-hee inadvertently ends up discovering her mother had confronted Ki-young when he was conversing with Hye-joo back in Seoul.
What is the truth?
After making sure Yeo-jin and Yoon-seo don’t go straight home, Hye-joo calls Woo-jae, wanting him to sort the situation outside her house out. But it’s not a pleasant conversation for the book conservator, as not only is she questioned about the Seung-ho case in a rather accusatory manner, but yet another request for a TV appearance is made. Back at the hospital, Ki-young fails to convince Yoo-sin to confess everything to her daughter, with the elder making sure it’s known that her late son will never be allowed to be branded a “sex offender.”
Shockingly, Ki-young tries to tell Seung-hee of her mother’s “deception” regarding Seung-ho’s false innocence, only for his wife to get petty. She wonders if romantic feelings are at play, then firmly believes Yoo-sin’s words that the car accident was born from her husband “scheming” with Hye-joo. Elsewhere, Joong-do asks disgruntled party members for support in winning over the public once more, for the sake of “Namgoong Sol’s law.”
When Yoon-seo expresses doubts towards her mother, wondering if she really did frame Seung-ho for the sake of financial gain, Hye-joo sends her daughter away and breaks down. Then, when composed, the book conservator phones Joong-do, now wishing to appear on television “as soon as possible.” The assemblyman tells Woo-jae about this, though requests a slight delay, as “no one cares about a guy who puts out a small fire.” Essentially, this means Joong-do wants to take a risk, have the TV appearance be made when it can be more impactful, and potentially when Seung-hee’s story has gained greater attention.
While Ki-young agrees to give evidence of Yoo-sin’s illegal land speculation to Joong-do, Ji-soo tells Hye-joo about Soo-bin‘s miscarriage, in addition to the fact the child was never Ji-hoon’s, to begin with. “I don’t think she was sexually assaulted either,” the doctor adds, recalling how the youngster had told her that precise information when she was a patient.
Soo-bin’s life becomes clearer
In a meeting with her shady ex, Soo-bin defends Hye-joo, bluntly stating she “really was molested,” but the youngster soon has bigger issues to deal with. She discovers her former partner had found a medical document confirming her pregnancy, then sent Ye-eun to the clinic, posing as Soo-bin, to have everything double-checked. Following that, the shady ex wonders why Soo-bin “framed Ji-hoon for rape,” before threatening to send the troubled girl to prison, given he had used her bank account for meth dealing. Should she want to avoid trouble, an errand needs to be run.
As Jin-seok calls Soon-hong, ready to respond to his proposition, Hye-joo shares her relief about Soo-bin with Yeo-jin. However, the book conservator does wonder who Joong-do could’ve been meeting on the night of Ji-hoon’s death, knowing her husband could potentially lie. “I can’t trust anybody right now,” Hye-joo exclaims, though she does backtrack when realizing she still has Yeo-jin. As an aside, the restauranteur seems to be hiding something here, and not just her impending house move.
In the midst of her confusion as to why Ji-hoon allegedly stole meth from her ex on the day of his death, the youngster gets in a car with Woo-jae to talk. During this chat, the advisor makes a proposition. If Soo-bin can cooperate with Joong-do and co. (not Hye-joo), they can keep her protected from ‘JD’. Elsewhere, the book conservator presses her husband for answers, saying “it’s a living hell” that he is hiding something from her.
Suddenly, Joong-do admits he discreetly met with Ji-hoon the die he died, to reprimand him for getting into drunken trouble. He had hidden it so Hye-joo wasn’t worried about her son’s behavior, and then subsequently guarded the truth because of the guilt he felt knowing his son passed away following the confrontation. “I was in so much pain, that I didn’t want to tell anyone. Especially not you,” the assemblyman states, apologetic, though evidently wounded. Fortunately, Hye-joo is forgiving, and she comforts her husband.
Trolley Season 1 Episode 13 Ending Explained
When slipping outside to deal with the dehumidifier at her studio, Hye-joo bumps into a waiting Soo-bin, who tells her that Joong-do is having an affair with Yeo-jin. The youngster then elaborates by explaining she and Ji-hoon had witnessed “everything” between the cheating duo at their house on the day her partner passed away, and they’d tried to use it against the assemblyman. That, and Soo-bin suddenly declares that Joong-do could’ve killed his son.
Hye-joo is stunned, but Soo-bin is unflinching in her beliefs, trusting that Ji-hoon genuinely could’ve died from confronting his father about his infidelity. Then, with this information in mind, the episode ends with a shot of Joong-do standing across from Yeo-jin.
