Is the Netflix Hindi series Class an adaptation of Elite? We discuss the upcoming Hindi series and its connection to the popular Spanish show.
There is a new Hindi crime drama arriving on Netflix in February 2023 that takes place in an exclusive Delhi school. The series is set to drop all its episodes of the show on February 3rd, 2023, and is a young adult crime drama thriller that also takes a look at class difference, relationships, violence, and crime. However, we thought there was something familiar about it, so had a quick look to see if the Netflix Hindi series Class is an adaptation of the long-running Spanish show Elite.
What is the Hindi Series Class about?
Class follows the story of three students that come from a less wealthy background, attending one of the most exclusive schools in Delhi. Once there, they discover that there are huge barriers between the wealthy students and themselves, adding to the problems they face, and once a murder is uncovered it seems that there is more going on at the school than preparing for exams.
With themes of class difference, relationships, and lifestyles, there is a lot going on between the students at this elite school.
Is the Netflix Hindi series Class an Adaptation of Elite?
It most certainly is. Spanish series Elite is a massively popular show after it debuted on Netflix in 2018. Season one of Elite follows three students who find themselves at an exclusive school after their own is destroyed. While there, they find a huge cultural gap between the wealthy students and themselves, and as the series develops it dives into their relationships, their lifestyles, and eventually a murder.
The show hit the ground running and became incredibly popular, finding a global audience, so it was not long before a second season was announced.
The show was quick to realize that by introducing new characters, they would keep things fresh, and the storytelling technique of showing things in flash-forwards would become a norm for the show. At the time of writing, it seems that the show has no signs of slowing down and a seventh season has been green-lit, with the promise of some returning characters from the earlier seasons.
Looking at the trailer for Class and the official synopsis, it seems that the Hindi version is pretty much adapting the show very closely, so we expect that Class will be hitting a lot of the same beats as Elite did.
Is Netflix’s Class and Elite connected?
Class is a Hindi remake of Elite, so we assume that the first season of this show will mirror the first season of the Spanish show Elite. Class will have the same premise, characters, and tone as Elite, with plenty of youthful energy, action, and from what we can gather, lots of heat.
The cast includes up-and-coming actor Gurfateh Pirzada who was last seen in Netflix’s Guilty, and Piyush Khati, whom you will know from Extraction, the 2020 Chris Hemsworth vehicle.
