This article discusses the possibility of The Snow Girl Season 2 and the renewed or canceled status of the Netflix series.

There is no shortage of crime dramas on Netflix, and even plenty of high-quality Spanish dramas on there too, so I can totally understand why one’s eyes might glaze over when hearing about another one. Yet, here we are. The Snow Girl, based on the book La chica de nieve by Javier Castillo with some key changes, is another very solid Spanish crime drama available to stream in full as of January 27, 2023.

Here’s a quote from our review:

The Snow Girl makes a couple of smart decisions with this typical formula. One is that it takes place over multiple time periods; in the days immediately following Amaya’s disappearance, six years later, and nine years later, but it presents events out of sequence. Luckily it’s always clear when we’re moving backward or forward through time, so you never get lost in the shuffle, and the organization of events is often used to good dramatic effect. There’s a sense of satisfaction in putting together the pieces of how something witnessed in 2019 originated in 2010, and so on, and so forth.

At just six episodes, the first season is pretty breezy — although very heavy in its subject matter — so fans who enjoyed it and sped through it might be wondering about the possibility of a follow-up. Here’s everything we know.

Will there be a Season 2 of The Snow Girl?

Renewed or canceled status: TBC

As ever, it’s too early to tell what the future of The Snow Girl might be. Netflix haven’t given any official confirmation of renewal, but then again that’s rarely the case until success can be gauged in a variety of viewership metrics.

There’s obviously an endlessly huge market for crime dramas on streaming platforms and Netflix has a strong foothold in the market already, but that might prove to be as much of a detriment to The Snow Girl as an advantage. The show is good, but is it good enough, or different enough, to stand out in such a crowded market? Time will tell.

However, it does seem like the creators have intentions of continuing the story. The ending of the first season brings the overarching mystery to a close but explicitly tees up another, and there is indeed a second novel in the series to adapt, which would likely form the basis for a second season.

It’s a difficult one to predict, this, but since it’s kind of my job to do so, I’m going to say that The Snow Girl probably won’t be renewed for a second season outside of surprisingly astronomical viewing figures.

The Snow Girl Season 2 Potential Release Date

It’s too early to reveal any release date, however, if it were to be renewed now, we could expect a second season later this year. Netflix productions tend to turn around filming pretty quickly.

Here is my vote for a season two! Season one was beautifully done…great acting cast, story line was presented in an interesting way reflecting the years past, present and future in the conclusion of finding Amaya! In addition, the subject matter of rape and the PTSD that it brings for its victims helps others dealing with such matters while giving the viewers an inside look at the trauma it causes! Hoping that I am speaking for other viewers who will not comment…in favor of a second season!
