We discuss whether there will be a season 6 of the Netflix anime series Aggretsuko and its renewed or canceled status.

Aggretsuko is a Japanese anime comedy series. It originally appeared in TV shorts on the Japanese network TBS and is now a Netflix original series.

It follows Retsuko, a red panda in an office job that deals with her annoyances by singing death metal after work. The show’s deadpan, offbeat comedy and lovable protagonist allowed it to live on forfive5 seasons. The fifth season, released on February 16, saw Retsuko entering the world of politics.

Aggretsuko appealed to anime lovers right from the start, with seasons 1-3 earning a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans of the show are wondering if Aggretsuko will return for a sixth season.

Unfortunately, Aggretsuko will not return for season 6. It was announced before season 5 was released that this would be the final season. Aggretsuko has been a beloved series since its beginning in April 2018. Even though the show was not renewed, season 5 was perhaps its best, ending on a high note. The first nine episodes were under 20 minutes, while the finale was 34 minutes long. This gave fans a satisfying ending and closure as the series bid farewell.

Season 5 follows Retsuko running for office and Haida being unemployed, much to Retsuko’s dismay. At an internet cafe, Haida meets an online friend in real life and must tell Retsuko’s parents that he still doesn’t have a job unless he can find one. The final season also sees a suspicious man asking about “Aggressive Retsuko.” Throughout the chaos, Retsuko still deals with her everyday struggles with the epic karaoke sessions that fans always enjoyed.
