We discuss predictions for the Crunchyroll anime series Tomo-Chan Is a Girl! Season 1 Episode 10, and include the release date and where to watch online.

Although Tomo (Rie Takahashi) and Jun (Kaito Ishikawa) are always at the forefront of viewers’ minds, this week’s episode took a moment to develop the relationship between Carol (voiced by Sally Amaki) and Misaki (voiced by Ayako Kawasumi) instead. While this pair has also been stuck in a “will they or won’t they” dynamic, they both finally seemed to take some initiative to make things happen. In the end, it seems Misuzu (voiced by Rina Hidaka) probably did the most to progress the relationship, albeit harshly; it was fun seeing romance work out in at least one couple’s favor.

  • The episode opens with a young Misaki explaining that he was a gloomy, friendless child. When his cousin Carol visits, he finds himself enamored with her.
  • Wanting to be stronger, Misaki joins the Aizawa Dojo run by Tomo’s father.
  • Misaki and Jun spar. After cutting Jun’s cheek with a barely missed punch, Misaki passes out.
  • Tomo asks Misaki what made him want to get stronger in the first place, wondering if it has something to do with Carol. Misaki admits it is, as he wants to be stronger for her.
  • After expressing that he would like to be the kind of guy Tomo could show off to her friends at the dojo, Carol asks Misaki how he feels about Tomo. He is unsure but compares her to a role model.
  • Misuzu overhears Carol asking Jun to hang out. As she begins to warn her against it, Carol asks Misuzu if she still thinks everything will work out regarding Jun and Tomo.
  • When Jun and Carol hang out at the park after school, Carol tells him that she doesn’t think she will be hanging out with Tomo and Misuzu anymore. Jun tells her not to underestimate Tomo.
  • In his room, Carol blames Jun for the lack of progress in her relationship with Misaki.
  • Wanting to “torture” him, Carol leans over and kisses Jun’s cheek.
  • Carol jokes that if Jun’s not careful, he’ll lose her forever. Jun immediately pushes her off, leaving to rush to Tomo’s place.
  • Carol apologizes to Misuzu the next day before revealing that her plan to try and make Misaki jealous seems to work at least a little.
  • Misuzu confronts Misaki, and he admits that he is in love with Carol and has been for a long time.
  • Misaki admits that he finds Carol intimidating because she’s strong, and he’s not. He’s never seen her vulnerable before and thinks that has skewed their relationship dynamic, so Misuzu agrees to try and make that happen for him.
  • To get Carol to show her more vulnerable side, Misuzu lies and tells her she has no chance with Misuzu.
  • Carol accuses Misuzu of being a liar before leaving school.
  • Misaki rushes to Carol’s house to check on her, only to find her crying.
  • Misaki tries to explain this whole thing was a misunderstanding, but when Carol does not understand, he admits he is in love with her.
  • Carol says she loves Misaki back.
  • The next day at school, Carol thanks Misuzu for helping her.

Predictions

After the excitement of the last few weeks, I wasn’t expecting a Carol and Misaki episode. However, it turned out to be entertaining and hopefully a wake-up call for Jun as he still struggles with his feelings for Tomo.

  • Considering all the trouble they went through this week, I expect we’ll see Carol and Misaki in a full-fledged relationship next episode.
  • I imagine the focus will return to Jun and Tomo’s relationship, with Jun feeling especially pressured to figure out his feelings now that Carol and Misaki have figured out theirs.
