Outlast is the seriously intense survival game show on Netflix; think Bear Grylls meets The Hunger Games. Pushing the contestants’ physical, mental, and survival skills to the test in the Alaskan wilderness.
Survivalists are usually lone wolves, so what happens when these are put into a group and have to win? This game has no voting off; quitting is the only way out. The contestants must build their campsites, hunt for food, find fresh water, and keep warm. As well as achieving conquests set by the game masters. With 16 starting contestants, their eyes are on the gigantic prize pot of one million dollars. Season 1 had eight episodes with a runtime of roughly one hour each, and each one was as exciting and dramatic as the last.
Will there be a Season 2 of Outlast on Netflix – Renewed or Cancelled Status

Netflix has confirmed the Second Season of the survival competition series Outlast. After renewing the data, the streaming service has decided to give audiences a second serving for a brand new roster of survivalists. Season One of Outlast debuted at #6 on Netflix’s weekly Global Top 10 TV (English) list and reached the Top 10 TV in 27 countries.
It’s clear that the reality series did enough in attracting audiences to impress.

Netflix has neither canceled nor renewed the survival competition series Outlast yet.
I hope they do. The tricky part will be finding contestants as serious, sneaky, and courageous as the last lot.
Production on these types of survival game shows set in the open wilderness doesn’t cost a lot, and as it’s unscripted, I think it’s an easy show to be renewed. However, maybe the grand pot prize of one million dollars might stop it from getting a second season, as it is significantly higher than all other game shows.
As someone who loves survival game shows, I bet they could half the prize pot to 500,000 dollars and still get a bunch of crazy contestants to play, as while it is about the money, it’s also about outlasting, and that drive to win can be enough.

I can imagine their insurance is relatively high as well, as these contestants are putting their health and lives at risk. Even in season 1, the producers had to step in and take Angie out of the camp as she was so unwell but determined not to set her flare off and leave the camp.
There is scope for more changes, such as more group challenges to test the teams and maybe adding more contestants throughout the series to create more competition and intense drama. For example, one character went out due to becoming alone (his team dismembers/left, etc.), and the rules state you cannot be alone in this game. He was rejected from one team and refused to go to the other. It would have been interesting to have someone drop from the sky, making them a new team and how the other teams would react.
So there is scope and hope, so get watching, get those views up, and Netflix might bless us with a second season.
Outlast Season 2 Release Date
We will have to wait for Netflix to see if we get a second season and release date for Outlast Season 2.
If this is the end, and this was a one-off series, there is other unscripted original content to look forward to from Netflix. The streaming giant has filmed a real-life Squid Game reality show called Squid Game: The Challenge, which sounds like another terrifying survival game show.
