After weeks of wondering when the Juggernaut would return, it managed to corner Bell (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) and Ryuu (Saori Hayami) in an impossible situation at the end of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Season 4 Episode 21. With no way to go but through, Bell has prepared himself to take on the savage beast alone. However, that may not be the wisest decision, considering Bell’s currently running on limited energy and strength. Here’s hoping Bell’s friends show up in time to help him, or today’s finale could end on a much darker note than anyone bargained for.

The episode opens with Bell shooting a firebolt at the Juggernaut before promising to kill it and take Ryuu home. Meanwhile, Ryuu has a vision of the Astrea familia, encouraging her to wake up and help Bell.
After speaking with her familia again, Ryuu realizes she wants to save Bell, prompting her to wake up. Outside their cavern, she hears Bell clashing with the Juggernaut and quickly runs out to help him.
How do Bell and Ryuu defeat the Juggernaut?
Bell and Ryuu take on the Juggernaut together, each attacking from different angles. After a spike impales and traps Bell, he uses Argo Vesta to blow up the floor, temporarily throwing the monster off. This allows Bell to get up close and shoot a Firebolt under the Juggernaut’s armour while Ryuu hits it with Luminous Wind. Ryuu then used her previous knowledge of the Juggernaut’s abilities, combined with various tactics of her previous familia members, to launch a series of attacks against it. With the monster weakened, Ryuu can use Luvia, hitting the Juggernaut with a direct shot and blowing it up.
Are Bell and Ryuu rescued?
The Xenos search the 37th floor, unable to locate Bell and Ryuu when Wiene suddenly says she can hear their voices. They rush to the location to find Bell and Ryuu passed out on the ground but still alive. As they offer aid, the Xenos hear Bell’s party calling out for them and decide to leave them to their human friends. They quickly disappear just before Bell’s party finds him and Ryuu rescuing them.

What happened to Bell’s left arm?
Bell and Ryuu spend several days in the hospital recuperating while all their friends visit them. On the day they’re discharged, the two meet up and spend the day together as Bell details the injuries to his left arm. He explains that it was full of torn tissues and shattered bones that had to be rebuilt from scratch. Although it sounds terrible, he has a full range of motion back, thanks to a healer and some magic.
The episode ends with Ryuu thanking Bell for his help. Happy to see her smiling, Bell tells her she looks beautiful, causing Ryuu to blush and run away.
I think the thing that surprised me most about the finale was that instead of having Bell’s friends and party save him and Ryuu, the pair instead saved themselves. It was an interesting choice, but it made so much sense considering how much their relationship has progressed throughout the series. After everything they had been through together, seeing them triumph together was more fitting than if they had just waited to be rescued.
Compared to this season’s constant peril and action, I enjoyed the slower pace of the finale. It was sweet watching everyone visit, and the moment between Bell and Ryuu at the end wrapped everything up nicely. It’ll be fun to see where this series goes next if it gets renewed for a fifth season.
