Summary
Despite several ups and downs along the way, Senpai and Nagatoro’s date ends on a high note and wraps up the second season in the perfect way.
We recap the Crunchyroll series Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro Season 2 Episode 12, “Wanna Do Something to Make It Not a Dry Run?,” which contains spoilers and explains the Ending.
Despite countless outings, from visiting the zoo to meeting one another’s families, Senpai and Nagatoro (voiced by Sumire Uesaka) have yet to go on an actual date. That’s about to change this week, as Senpai and Nagatoro finally embark on their first romantic trip together to the aquarium.
While this feels like the perfect next step in their relationship, there’s no telling what could go wrong with their friends secretly tagging along to watch them. Viewers hope it doesn’t end in disaster, at least for Senpai and Nagatoro’s sake.
Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro Season 2 Episode 12 Recap
The episode opens with Senpai and Nagatoro riding the bus to the aquarium together. Nagatoro teases Senpai, saying that she will help him practice going on a date by grading him throughout their outing. Gamo and Yoshi watch them from a distance while Hana and Sunomiya follow on their motorcycle.
Why is Senpai losing points on the practice date?
Despite Nagatoro saying this is not a date, Senpai feels nervous and close to Nagatoro simultaneously. After Nagatoro sees several couples holding hands, she gets upset with Senpai, saying he isn’t doing something he should be, causing him to lose points on their practice date.
Do Senpai and Nagatoro indirect kiss?
After running away from Gamo, Yoshi, Hana, and Sunomiya, Senpai, and Nagatoro stop to get ice cream. He gets vanilla while she gets wasabi. When she offers to let him taste it, Senpai declines, prompting Nagatoro to tease him about being afraid of the typical romance trope, the “indirect kiss.”
In trying to force him to taste it, Senpai accidentally jerks his hand, causing his vanilla cone to smash against her wasabi cone anyway. When they return to their cones, Nagatoro jokes with Senpai, asking how their indirect kiss tastes.
At the end of the date, Nagatoro announces that it is time to tell Senpai his final point total. After declining points for things like fashion, Nagatoro awards him several points for things like grabbing her hand and getting drenched at the dolphin show for her. Ultimately, Senpai’s total comes to 50 points out of 1,000.
How does Nagatoro describe her date with Senpai?
After getting graded on his practice date by Nagatoro, Senpai nervously asks if their date was also good practice for her. Nagatoro thinks for a moment before telling Senpai that for her, this date was the real deal. Senpai then admits that the date was real for him as well.

Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro Season 2 Ending Explained
Do Senpai and Nagatoro kiss?
Nagatoro asks Senpai how they should end the date, suggesting a kiss or a hug. Nervously, Senpai chooses the hug option, but before they can embrace, the pair overhears Hana and Sunomiya chasing down Yoshi and Gamo.
Back at school, Nagatoro has been giving Gamo and Yoshi the cold shoulder for messing up her date. However, she finally caves, inviting them to eat in the art room with her. Once there, she catches Hana attempting to feed Senpai lunch and grows jealous before learning it is an apology lunch. When Hana offers to make him lunch for the rest of the week, Nagatoro intervenes, saying she will do it. However, Senpai only declines her offer because he plans to bring her lunch instead.
The episode ends with Nagatoro asking Senpai if he’d like to finish what they started before the two finally embrace.
I thought a date would be a fitting way to conclude the season, and in the end, it turned out to be the right choice. There was a while there where I was worried that the show was backtracking on its progress, especially when Nagatoro said it wasn’t a real date. However, Nagatoro saying it was a date later created a cute romantic moment for the pair that was worth all the back and forth.
The choice to not have the friends mess up the date was also better. While the episode set up a lot of hilarious scenarios, the focus was on Nagatoro and Senpai in the end, really laying the foundation for more romantic moments in season three.
