Summary
The Night Agent is intriguing but relies on the undercooked chemistry between the leads.
Will The Night Agent offer continuous flashbacks like Lost to solve its mystery? We see Rose (Luciane Buchanan) in flashbacks when her security firm went bankrupt because a high-priced client was held financially hostage by ransomware. A company employee was behind it, but we don’t know why. The show then jumps forward as Peter (Gabriel Basso) questions Rose’s plan now that she lied to FBI director Hawkins (Robert Patrick) and the White House Chief of Staff.
The Night Agent Season 1 Episode 2 Recap
What does the crest on the ring mean?
Peter learns that the crest on the ring is from the Royal House of Yugoslavia. Peter drops her off at the hotel and with Secret Service outside. Peter learns the ring’s owner may be a distant relative of that now-defunct royal family.
Before he leaves, he buys some books and asks the front hotel desk to deliver them to her. Farr has Peter cleared to check the background of Rose’s family. Also, check for anything Hawkins may be hiding and any connections.
The assassins, known as Ellen and Dale, are in a motel. The item they stole from the home and left the baby is a baby cam with a camera inside a stuffed elephant. They do not note why they grabbed it or why it is inside. However, they are given the green light to go and kill the only witness, Sidewinder, and Gazelle. Ellen and Dale are given the location where Rose is hiding. They cut the power and the phones to the giant building.
Who pulled Rose’s Secret Service detail?
When Peter arrives at the hotel for breakfast with Rose, the Secret Service detail is pulled without warning, and he doesn’t know why. Peter leads Rose through the hotel and out by breaking the hotel glass window on the second floor. He climbs on top of a glass canopy that fails and falls. He is uninjured and then tells Rose to jump. Peter breaks her fall by landing on top of him before the assassin can shoot them.
Peter calls Farr while held up in a changing room in a department store down the street. He lets them know that the detail was pulled and the head of the Secret Service, Ben Amora, who likes Peter, is there with Farr. Peter asks her who would have the power to pull armed guards into the Secret Service. Farr goes down the list but also includes Hawkins.

When they try to locate the FBI director, he is nowhere to be found. Later, Rose also tells Peter about her family, talking about having to warn someone called Osprey. Also, they think her family may be hiding information in her family’s cabin deep into the woods. They do not tell Farr or anyone else where they went.
The Night Agent Season 1 Episode 2 Ending Explained
Why was Hawkins killed?
FBI Deputy Director was found dead, and we assume Hawkins was killed because he was involved in the murder plot.
While at the cabin, Peter finds a hard drive in the cabin and is notified by Farr that Hawkins was found in a field dead. She also mentions Hawkins called off the Secret Service detail. Meanwhile, Rose cannot log in because national security software blocks her hacking skills. There is one file she can see that is encrypted, labeled 2781. Peter knows that number all too well and is floored when he sees it. That is the number of the subway train where he stopped the terrorist attack.
