Summary

After weeks of up and downs, the series ends on a high note, giving viewers the perfect ending to this sweet romantic comedy.

We recap the Crunchyroll anime series Tomo-Chan Is a Girl! Season 1 Episode 13, which contains spoilers and explains the Ending.

After weeks of wondering if Tomo’s (Rie Takahashi) feelings were one-sided, Jun (Kaito Ishikawa) finally confessed to having feelings of his own. While they still haven’t quite made things official, surely it’s the next logical step, with this being the last episode of the season.

Here’s hoping that after today, Tomo finally accomplished the goal she’s been working towards all season.

Tomo-Chan Is a Girl! Season 1 Episode 13 Recap

The episode opens with Tomo telling Jun she will not be walking home with him because she’s walking home with Misuzu and Carol instead. Jun takes it in stride, however, prompting Tomo to admit to her friends later that his overly relaxed demeanor is throwing her off. They suggest seeing a romance movie together to speed things along.

Does Tomo make a move on Jun at the movie theater?

Considering her friends’ suggestions, Tomo decides to see a romance movie with Jun. However, before she can so much as gather the courage to hold his hand, she gets too nervous and continues to watch the movie instead.

Over lunch, Jun hands Tomo a box containing a set of T-shaped earrings he got her for Christmas. After receiving her gift, Tomo gives Jun his Christmas gift: a handmade muffler or scarf. Although she says she didn’t make it quite right, Jun still wears it proudly anyway.

Why hasn’t Jun asked Tomo out yet?

Things become increasingly awkward as Tomo and Jun hang out in his room. Finally, Tomo yells out, asking Jun to kiss her, but he hesitates, as they are not dating yet.

He then reveals that when he asked her father to date her, he said it would only allow it if Jun were man enough to defeat him, but Jun has yet to get the chance.

Why is Tomo upset with Jun?

After getting angry with her father on his behalf, Tomo still finds herself upset with Jun. When he asks why, he learns that not only is she upset about Jun not telling her what her father said, but also his apparent indecisiveness, saying, “at least tell me that you want to fight him.”

Jun surprises Gorou and challenges him to a fight. Jun struggles significantly at first, but with encouragement from Tomo, he sees an opening that allows him to strike Gorou in the face and win.

Do Jun and Tomo kiss?

After defeating her father, Jun once again declares his love for Tomo, this time asking her out in the process. Although she gets mad at him for interrupting her asking him out, Tomo still leans in and kisses Jun anyway.

The episode ends with Tomo and her friends together as she declares how happy she is with how things worked out.

Although expected, seeing things work out between Tomo and Jun, in the end, made everything worth it. At first, I thought ending with a fight seemed a bit odd, but thinking back to Jun’s character and how much his perceived strength influenced his decisions, it was pretty fitting, honestly.

Everything came full circle, and it was worth seeing how happy Tomo was in the end.

While this felt like the whole series as opposed to just the end of a season, Tomo-Chan is the kind of anime viewers will be able to watch repeatedly.
