Although it’s been over a year since Chise (Atsumi Tanezaki) attended a traditional school, she seems to be fitting in well enough at the college. Although she’s run into few obstacles so far, there are some other students she may want to watch out for in the future.
With her first day complete and with minimal hiccups, things seem to be going smoother than they have in a long time, at least until Chise and Ruth (Koki Uchiyama) find themselves separated from everyone else back at the house.
- Torrey Innis wakes up just in time to overhear Rian asking Chise to teach him magic.
- Chise asks if he knows Elias’s location, but Rian says he saw Renfred drag him down the hall earlier.
- Torrey explains that he plays a similar role in Rian’s life as his guardian and teacher. Rian refers to himself as Torrey’s apprentice.
- Rian asks Alice if he may observe her magic as well.
- Narcisse meets up with vice principal Gregory and updates him on Chise’s first day.
- At lunchtime, a girl named Beatrice Byrne invites Chise and Elias to sit with them.
- Chise is introduced to several other classmates, including Sofia Healy, Isaac Farrar, Kevin Forbes, Martin Chandler, Jasmine and Violet St. George, Lazarus McGovern, Roy Truman, and Zoe Ivy.
- Back at home, Joseph appears to Chise. As he stares at his eye in her body, he eventually grows frustrated, saying he has yet to receive her answer as he leaves.
- Stella comes to visit Chise at home, and Elias is surprised that he feels differently toward her than he did before.
- As Chise, Stella, and Ruth walk toward the house, they are suddenly separated, with Chise and Ruth ending up on top of what appears to be a body of water.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2 Episode 4 Release Date and Time
Season 2, Episode 4, will be released on Crunchyroll on Thursday, April 27th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. ET. Episode 4 is titled “The cowl does not make the monk” and will have a run time of approximately 23 minutes.

Predictions
While I was right in assuming Chise and Stella would meet up this week, I had no idea the episode would end like that. It’s clear someone chose to separate them from each other, but it’s hard to guess if Chise is the target here or if it is once again Stella.
- In the past, Elias felt jealous of Stella and aimed to harm her to save Chise. While I don’t think that is the case here, considering people were poking into Elias’ past earlier, I could see them being separated as a setup by someone else to hurt Stella and make Elias look bad.
- I’m not sure what powers Joseph still has, if any. If he’s still able to use them, I could see this separation being his doing as a way to get Chise away from Elias and for Joseph to attempt to reclaim his eye.
