Summary

A fun episode draws us closer to revelations.

We recap the Netflix K-Drama series Doctor Cha Season 1 Episode 4, which contains spoilers.

Fun, fast-paced, and full of teases, episode four of Doctor Cha hit most of the right notes. There are still things that need tightening up, but on the whole, this is shaping up to be a good drama.

Doctor Cha Season 1 Episode 4 Recap

In the end, Jeong-suk manages to end her night without controversy or accidental revelation, though she does frustrate In-ho by getting a ride home from Roy Kim. That, and the new resident finds herself emotional when soaking in the world around her, partly because of all she missed out on.

Next comes a heart-to-heart. First centered around Jeong-suk’s mixed feelings regarding her newfound freedom, then about the acceptance her marriage with In-ho isn’t as passionate anymore, and “that’s just how life is.”

Nevertheless, Roy Kim does leave something to think about when he mentions the necessity that is respect.

How does Jung-min deal with his new work environment?

As I-rang struggles to come to terms with supporting her mother’s dreams, Jung-min does little to prevent So-ra – who he is hiding his relationship with – from stealing his gimbap, much to Jeong-suk’s annoyance. Elsewhere, the cleaner Ae-sim hired quits abruptly, quickly growing tired of the elder’s demands.

After dressing down Jeong-suk for her nearly drastic prescribing error, So-ra refuses to budge when Jung-min attempts to calm her down. Then, the trainee turns to comfort his mother, knowing he’ll one day need to introduce her to his partner.

What makes Jeong-suk’s life so stressful?

While Deok-rye is referred for a biopsy because of a mark on her skin, In-ho becomes more annoyed at the hospital. Roy Kim isn’t solely popular with his wife, but Seung-hi too, it seems, given she can’t stop glancing at him.

Furthermore, Jung-min has to take a stand with the struggling Jeong-suk and stop her from asking for help with every aspect of her job. This only backfires, however.

Despite now being shown how online videos can help her career, the next day isn’t any easier for Jeong-suk. She has to try and convince an elderly cancer patient (who is currently imprisoned for murdering her husband) to proceed with chemotherapy, deals with Chairman Oh when he is distraught at the idea of needing a colonoscopy bag and has to turn to In-ho for chest tube insertion help when everyone else is preoccupied.

Thanks to So-ra’s belated help, the chest tube insertion goes well, but Jeong-suk still has trouble with the other two aforementioned patients because she cannot figure out how to persuade them to accept treatment. As an aside, some workers are now beginning to speculate on the relationship this middle-aged resident may have with In-ho.

Why does Jeong-suk get suspicious?

While Roy Kim looks into the possibility he was abandoned as a child, In-ho’s woes continue. Concurrently, Jeong-suk almost hears that Seung-hi is the mother of I-rang’s friend before seeds are planted in her head that her husband could be having an affair.

From here, Jeong-suk’s tail is up, and she almost finds out about her husband’s affair when she discovers a bracelet receipt in his pocket. But In-ho survives, lazily proclaiming the item was for his wife’s birthday.

This doesn’t quite completely absolve him of questioning, as Jeong-suk soon quizzes her partner about Seung-hi, leaving the two in an awkward situation.

At work, Jeong-suk candidly apologizes to Seung-hi for the past, leaving the latter stunned. Still, the head of family medicine has little interest in pleasantries past accepting the words of remorse, given she instantly shuts down her colleague’s later attempts at being friendly.

Doctor Cha Season 1 Episode 4 Ending Explained

Now, things have turned hectic. Jeong-suk is enlisted to help resuscitate Chairman Oh, who collapsed outside the hospital, a task that proves to be rather tricky.

Then, to end the episode, Jeong-suk faints due to her sighting of Seung-hi smiling alongside In-ho, as well as the bracelet she now knows her husband bought for his mistress.
