The Nurse, not to be confused with The Good Nurse, is a four-part Danish miniseries streaming on Netflix. Adapted from the book of the same title by Kristian Corfixen and directed by Kasper Barfoed, it tells the story of newly graduated nurse Pernille Kurzmann Larsen, who begins to suspect that a celebrated senior colleague, Christina Aistrup Hansen, might be killing her patients.
Here’s a quote from our review:
The Nurse is pretty good, all things considered, despite the familiarity of the story. It’s carried on the backs of Bernth and Park, naturally, but as mentioned above, Barfoed has a real knack for suspense-building, and more importantly getting to the point.
True-crime aficionados may well be curious about the future of the show, so here’s everything we know.
Will there be a Season 2 of The Nurse on Netflix?
Renewed or canceled status: TBC
At the time of writing Netflix has not revealed any plans to continue The Nurse for another season.
This should come as no surprise. The show as always billed as a limited series. It’s a single true story adapted from a book, and the case has since been closed. The perpetrator is in prison, and isn’t getting out any time soon, so there’s no justification for a second season.
In the unlikely event — not because of quality, simply oversaturation — that The Nurse is overwhelmingly popular for the streaming platform, the creative team may be compelled to explore other true-crime stories. However, they’d almost certainly be completely unrelated. Keeping them within the medical industry, however, may present some interesting options going forward.
Still, all of this is completely speculative. Our official prediction is that The Nurse will not be renewed for Season 2, and that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. However, as usual, we’ll be sure to update this page as soon as we know more.
