As we reach the halfway point of the first season of Citadel, secret agents Nadia (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) and Mason (Richard Madden) are reunited. They ponder their next move, believing they are the only remaining Citadel agents left in the world. Whilst they hunt for more agents, one of their own, Bernard (Stanley Tucci), is tortured.
The third chapter is slightly downgraded from the previous installments, peddling cliched action sequences and sarcastic humor that doesn’t connect. Although Mason and Nadia share great on-screen chemistry, and the finale supplies a sinister twist ending.
Here’s what happened in Citadel Season 1 Episode 3:
- At a Citadel safe house, Nadia extracts a bullet from Mason’s shoulder. They discuss their shared past and Mason’s new family. Nadia admits that they briefly dated.
- A flashback reveals how they first met. Ten years ago, Mason was tasked with retrieving a deadly virus from an enemy’s base before it was released into society. During this assignment, Mason would meet Nadia.
- Nadia was working undercover and saved Mason’s life. After meeting, they started a whirlwind romance.
- In the present, Nadia contacts an unknown ally, telling them Valencia is compromised.
- Bernard is tortured by Dahlia’s men for a password. He refuses to give up this password, which would give Manticore access to the specific locations of nuclear weapons. They extract his teeth and threaten to drill into his brain in retaliation.
- Bernard reasons with Anders Silje, his latest torturer. He reveals that he has information on Anders’ ex-lover, who he presumed was dead.
- Mason updates Abby and then asks Nadia to train him. Nadia looks through the case and finds messages from Spence Carter, a Citadel agent. He was last located in Morocco. Nadia wants to track him down, to hopefully save another ally.
- Mason meets with a crime boss, Balduino, who may know Spence’s whereabouts. They download data off his phone in secret. Balduino believes that Nadia was the mole working for Manticore. Nadia denies this claim.
- Bernard reveals that Anders’ ex-lover is still alive and is married to Mason. It is Abby. She had her memory wiped, just like Mason and Nadia. She is unaware of her history with Anders.

Predictions
- Anders will help Bernard escape Dahlia’s mansion. Together they will head back to Wyoming. Bernard may be tracked and followed by Dahlia along the way, though. Anders and Bernard will discuss their joint history as Citadel agents on this odd road trip.
- Flashbacks will reveal Abby’s past as a Citadel agent. This will lead up to the events that transpired eight years ago when the Citadel fell, and her memory was originally wiped.
- Nadia and Mason will free Spence from his Manticore captors. His memory will have been wiped too. They will inject him with the vial to bring him up to date.
