Summary

A very powerful episode brings things closer to a climax.

We recap the Netflix K-Drama series The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 6, which contains spoilers.

With plenty of emotion, this breezy episode of The Good Bad Mother set the scene for what will come. It’s evident Young-soon (Ra Mi-ran) mightn’t be around for as long as she wishes to be in Kang-ho’s (Lee Do-hyun) recovery, so how she deals with her stomach cancer is likely to form the basis of the next couple of chapters.

The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 6 Recap

Once finished pursuing Kang-ho’s assailant, Woo-byeok’s men – who’ve been told to maintain the prosecutor’s safety until their “ace” against Tae-soo is found – unfortunately lose track of him at the hospital.

Concurrently, Sam-sik swims away from a beating and finds he’s indebted to his now former employers due to starting a fight the previous day.

What does Hoon-ah suggest in place of the pig farm?

As Baek Hoon-ah (Trot Baek) begins to reacquaint himself with the rest of Jou-ri village, Kang-ho tails Mi-joo, who has just been afforded a monetary gift from Gum-ja so she can open up a nail salon, to return her wallet to her. In the end, the prosecutor gets the chance to give the item back when his ex emerges from where her new “shop-in-shop” will be to watch the commotion of the disabled man being accused of theft.

While Mi-joo and Young-soon warmly make amends for their prickly past, Hoon-ah suggests getting rid of the pig farm so that he can replace it with a large “trot music hall.”

At first, people seem reluctant, but the swindler charms the villagers by detailing how they and their children can all get involved in work related to the prospective new concert building (security, cafes, a bed, and breakfast, etc.).

Next, Young-soon overhears her fellow villagers’ plans to protest against her pig farm, so she goes back to work to witness a new birth deflated, discussing how she needs to “hang in there.”

Elsewhere, Sam-sik spots Kang-ho by the river and thinks back to the time the prosecutor condescendingly gave him money and when he refused to help him avoid jail for a second time.

How does Sam-sik find out about Kang-ho’s condition?

Approaching Kang-ho, Sam-sik gets confrontational, cursing at him and bitterly reminding the prosecutor of his lack of friendship. However, he soon realizes his frenemy is not who he used to be, a fact later confirmed when the ex-convict returns home to his parents. Regretful, Sam-sik admits he feels sorry for Young-soon amidst all of this, but that only draws the ire of his own mother and father.

At night, Mi-joo emotionally cuts off Kang-ho, no longer want him to have any association with her family. Thus, the prosecutor apologizes, knowing he must’ve also been a “bad person” to her.

Concurrently, Woo-byeok’s men bump into Young-soon during their searches, building an elaborate lie about wanting to start a farm to evade suspicion. Yet their appearance ends up life-saving, for they “carry” the pig farmer to the hospital when she faints.

The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 6 Ending Explained

As the villagers ultimately choose to reject Hoon-ah’s request to protest, Young-soon discovers she has stage 4 stomach cancer. “Please save me,” the pig farmer begs the doctor, desperate to stay alive for the sake of Kang-ho. Then, the episode ends with the sad scene of Young-soon walking off, turning her pain into anger when telling her son to “get up” once he falls from his wheelchair.
