Summary

Another entertaining installment brings the story’s ending into focus.

We recap the Netflix K-Drama series The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 12, which contains spoilers.

With plenty of emotion and drama, this was amongst The Good Bad Mother’s better episodes. Now Kang-ho (Lee Do-hyun) has returned to his normal self; the plot looks set to accelerate and bring Tae-soo’s (Jung Woong-in) downfall into sharp focus.

The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 12 Recap

When Woo-byeok teases Tae-soo over his affair with the late Soo-hyun, the assemblyman gets irate. So much so, he kicks his frenemy down, loudly issuing a reminder of the proof he has of Hae-sik’s murder (among other “dirty deeds”) before reigniting his alliance with the business mogul.

This, it seems, is part of a larger plan to frame Kang-ho for Soo-hyun’s death and pin him as the father of her child.

What is the aftermath of the pig farm fire?

Once Sam-sik is pursued by both his parents and Woo-byeok’s men, the whole of Jou-ri Village becomes swept up in a panic. For they become aware of the fire emanating from Young-soon’s pig farm and the potential danger facing the trapped Kang-ho. Fortunately, Sam-sik is on hand to play hero, even if he does end up having to be the one carried out of the blazing flames by the prosecutor he intended to rescue.

As Young-soon stops Sam-sik from starting an investigation into the fire, Mi-joo confronts her childhood friend about who the “suspicious guy” he saw was.

Initially, no big details are given, but when answers are aggressively pushed for, it’s admitted that Tae-soo’s men are likely at fault. “I’ll be honest. Kang-ho is in danger,” Sam-sik bluntly tells Mi-joo.

Despite being filled in about Kang-ho being targeted for once having the details regarding Tae-soo’s illegitimate child, Young-soon further rejects the chance to issue a police report, not wanting to “provoke” the assemblyman.

Instead, the pig farmer wishes to go into “hiding” alongside her son to avoid either of them suffering the same “fate” Hae-sik did.

What happens when Kang-ho is arrested?

While Mi-joo comforts Young-soon about how Kang-ho didn’t “resent” her but rather missed her, the nail technician hears she was the person the prosecutor “loved to death.” This tender conversation does soon turn into a shocking one, though, as the pig farmer is told her son is the father of Ye-jin and Seo-jin. As Young-soon then explains Mi-joo was never “abandoned” by Kang-ho, detailing the truth about him wanting to avenge Hae-sik’s death alone, we see the prosecutor is eavesdropping in his hospital bed.

However, there’s no time for an extension of this candid conversation, given Kang-ho is swiftly arrested for the alleged murder of Soo-hyun. At the police station, photos of the pair in a car are presented as evidence, and it’s said the prosecutor killed the new mother because he was the father of her child, which would’ve stopped him from having a clear pathway to marrying Ha-young.

In time, Kang-ho makes a scene to be able to be sent home. But Young-soon knows her son is back to normal and emotionally embraces him following a tearful apology.

Still, Kang-ho has little interest in dwelling on sentimentality and soon tells his mother they need to find evidence against Tae-soo before the presidential candidate acts again, knowing that even if the two try to live quietly, they’ll be found and put in danger.

How do Mi-joo and Sam-sik decide to help Kang-ho?

After embracing his children, Kang-ho visits Mi-joo and opens up about his recovery. In response, the nail technician gives the prosecutor a dressing down on how painful his leaving was, in addition to her upset over the fact she cannot hate him for his abandonment now she knows the facts. Kang-ho states his mission isn’t over just yet, though, and he will “beg” for forgiveness once he next returns.

As Hoon-ah is thrown a “farewell party” by a buoyant Young-soon, who insists she’ll live contently in the future, it becomes clear it was actually Woo-byeok who sent men to the pig farm to kill Kang-ho.

That, and the business mogul discovers he was “duped” by the prosecutor regarding Soo-hyun, making him curious about the identity of the real killer.

Continuing, Mi-joo goes to Sam-sik with a video found on Ye-jin’s phone of Ha-young spiking Kang-ho’s drink.

So the two decide to confront Tae-soo’s daughter themselves, believing something fishy happened on the day of the accident. Elsewhere, Kang-ho fails to find where his former restaurant boss, who was supposed to help Soo-hyun flee, has got to.

The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 12 Ending Explained

With Mi-joo told to visit the hospitalized Ha-young after the election, Sam-sik’s curiosity is piqued.

He rightly thinks the situation has something to do with her wedding disappearance, which in turn sparks a realization in his friend that Tae-soo’s daughter must be at Woosung Medical Centre, where she can benefit from fabricated medical certificates.

To end the episode, Sam-sik and Mi-joo enter Woosung Medical Centre while Kang-ho prepares to greet Cho Yeong-jae, his former boss, on one of his boats.
