Summary

As the series progresses, Citadel’s flaws start to become much clearer. The characters are cliched and paper-thin, while the action is rather average on the whole. “Tell Her Everything” is fast-paced and beautifully shot, but behind that glossy sheen, it has no depth to it.

We recap the 2023 Amazon Prime Video series Citadel Season 1 Episode 4, “Tell Her Everything,” which contains spoilers.

Global spy thriller Citadel continues with episode four, “Tell Her Everything.” In the latest installment, Mason (Richard Madden) and Nadia (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) journey to Morocco to help free their fellow Citadel agent Carter Spence (Osy Ikhile).

Flashbacks reveal the true identity of Abby Conroy (Ashleigh Cummings) and the details of her first undercover mission, which ends in disaster.

Citadel Season 1 Episode 4 Recap

Starting in Morocco, Mason and Nadia enter the Manticore Black Site to rescue Carter. They tackle an army of unnamed goons, with Nadia taking the lead. However, Mason is still rusty in battle, as his memories and previous skills were lost forever.

He nervously follows Nadia’s direction. They quickly make their way to Carter’s cell. The traumatized prisoner looks up at Mason and blames him for this incarceration.

The series then jumps back to ten years earlier. Mason and Nadia are living it up in Paris, where they are slowly falling in love with one another. Nadia informs Mason that a new agent is joining the team. She worked with this spy before, and the agent ended up saving Nadia’s life.

Who is Celeste Graham?

At Citadel HQ, Mason meets this heroic new agent called Celeste Graham. She happens to be the same person who Mason ends up marrying in the present timeline when the couple both have their memories wiped. In the present, she is Abby Conroy of Oregon, but she is also known as Brielle by other agents.

The agents discuss their next mission. They are targeting the Silje brothers, Dutch criminals who deal in drugs, weaponry, and prostitution. Davik is the muscle, and Anders is the brains behind their operations.

What is the Oz key?

Anders has created a new technology called the Oz Key. This creation, when finished, will be able to hack an entire nation’s infrastructure, leading to all sorts of terrorism and chaos. Celeste’s job is to go undercover and gather intel on the Oz Key.

Celeste takes on a new identity, that of Brielle. She quickly wins over Anders’ trust and infiltrates their secret hideout, becoming the twin’s lover. To keep her sane, Mason regularly contacts Celeste to remind her of her mission and reality.

Unfortunately, Celeste hasn’t responded in over three months. Mason worries that she has gone rogue. He’s researched her twin brother, David, and discovered that he has a gambling problem too. Mason believes Celeste will steal the Oz Key and sell it to the highest bidder to get David out of financial debt.

To counteract this plan, Mason sends in an ops team. Meanwhile, Celeste replaces the Oz Key with a fake. Davik catches her in the act and beats her for this betrayal. The ops team manages to save Celeste and capture Anders, but Davik and the Oz Key mysteriously disappear.

Mason interrogates Celeste. She’s adamant that she didn’t steal the Key. Mason doesn’t believe her. He shows her live footage of David in his apartment. He threatens to kill David if Celeste will not reveal her buyer. Nadia stops this threat from going through, though.

What is Mason’s plan with Celeste?

Nadia thinks Celeste is innocent; she asks for Celeste to be relocated to a safe house. When Nadia leaves the room, Mason lays out his real plan. He wants to wipe Celeste’s memory, to perform a backstop procedure. Mason is convincing, manipulating their boss, Grace, into agreeing to this radical undertaking.

Next, Celeste is tricked into going to the Citadel Backstop facility in Mexico City. She thinks they are giving her a new identity and relocating her, but they are actually wiping her memories. Again, Nadia is unaware of this plan as well.

Mason creates Celeste’s new identity. She is to be called Abigail Lenahan and moved to Oregon. In secret, Mason meets with Bernard for his expert assistance. He wants to destroy Celeste’s vial entirely so that he can protect the Citadel from this mole. Bernard warns him that this procedure is permanent. He needs to be sure she is the traitor before destroying her memories forever.

Citadel Season 1 Episode 4 Ending Explained

The episode ends with Carter confronting Mason. He has figured out exactly what happened during the rescue mission. Nadia ordered the ops team to retrieve the Oz Key in secret. Carter believes Mason is covering for Nadia and that he used Celeste as a scapegoat. It’s possible that Nadia is the mole and now has the Oz Key.

In the present, Mason asks Carter what he has done to betray him, but the agent was actually referring to Nadia. She is the one that he blames for his imprisonment; she is the one who cannot be trusted.
