An interesting premise is at the heart of the Hulu thriller series Class Of ’09.
The action takes place over three different periods, 2009, 2023, and 2034, essentially the past, the present, and the future.
The mini-series is set in the well-worn world of FBI agents in training and stars Bryan Tyree Henry, Kate Mara, Brian J. Smith, Isaiah Stratton, Phil Armijo, and Camry Bault, and was created by Tom Rob Smith, who was also behind American Crime Story in 2018.
The show’s first episode kicks off in the past, and we find Ashley Poet arriving to start training at Quantico. Here we meet some of the other main characters that interact together, and we get our first glimpse at the leads.
Then we jump to the present, and Ashley is acting as an undercover cop for the FBI investigating a corrupt police force. This leads to the agent being recruited to infiltrate another organization, but Ashley is not impressed with the operation.
Then we see the future world for Ashley as she reunites with her classmate from 2009,
So you get the idea behind how the show will unfold, and it sounds interesting. However, I will leave that job to another writer, as this article is more interested in the show’s production, so with that in mind, let’s look at where the show Class Of ’09 was filmed.
Where was Class of ’09 on Hulu Filmed – a breakdown of filming locations
The Tyler Perry Studios, Atlanta Georgia
Many of the series’ shooting was done at the well-used Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. This branch of studios opened in 2019 and sits on three hundred and thirty acres of land on the old Fort McPherson complex in Southwest Atlanta.
The studio has several sets ready for use, including a hotel set, a White House set, a trailer park, and a 1950s diner.
As well as numerous set stages, the facility also has twelve sound stages.
The studio can be located at 315 Deshler Street Southwest.
Holy Cross Catholic Church, Atlanta
Eagle-eyed locals will spot the Holy Cross Church at 3773 Chamblee Tucker Road as a location that was used to film.
Atlanta Motor Speedway
The speedway was also used as a location and the track and entertainment venue that hosts an annual NASCAR hugely popular event.
The track is located at 1500 Tara Place.
Los Angeles, California
LA almost seems mandatory for filming these types of shows, and let’s face it, the area has pretty much everything that shows and movies need for location and studio filming.
Although some initial filming was done here, the crew would soon be off to Atlanta for the rest of the shoot.
Vancouver, British Columbia
Vancouver was used as a location for scenes set in the present timeline of the show, particularly for many of the woodland scenes.
