We recap the Netflix K-Drama series The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 7, which contains spoilers.

Well-paced and full of gut-wrenching emotion, this episode of The Good Bad Mother packed a lot into an hour. With Kang-ho (Lee Do-hyun) displays some movement again purely out of his desperate instinct to save his mother. Who knows what’ll happen from here?

The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

We begin with some scene setting. Ji-suk buys a cornfield in Jou-ri Village, Sam-sik is tracked down by his former employers, and Young-soon starts legal preparations for her eventual death.

Kang-ho, however, starts noticing his downbeat mother’s “weird” behaviour but soon feels relieved when she takes him into town.

How does Young-soon subtly prepare Kang-ho for her death?

After preventing Kang-ho from being harassed by school children, Young-soon expedites the learning process for her son. To do so, she introduces things like bank books to him and gives him a crash course in pig farming, ensuring he knows what to do with anything from feeding to injecting medicine if he’s left in charge. Elsewhere, Mi-joo and Sam-sik reunite, basking in their shared miserable fate until the latter makes things awkward by questioning his friend’s potential lingering feelings for Kang-ho.

Despite her worsening condition, Young-soon still finds time to show Kang-ho the farming ropes, practising with him some techniques to deal with swindlers.

Yet there’s still a big issue, for Hoon-ah is actively protesting the pig farm’s existence. In response, Young-soon completely loses her rag, viscerally warning the musician that she won’t be “giving up” the space she’s run for so long, even if she dies.

What happens to Young-soon’s farm?

Due to a foot-and-mouth outbreak, a distraught Young-soon essentially loses her farm anyway, given her pigs must be culled. This whole ordeal causes village-wide upset, while Woo-byeok’s men choose to capitalise. Thus, it seems the pair finally find the file they need.

Next, Tae-soo gets ready to marry his daughter into the Dosang Group by buttering up its founder, happy to wax lyrical about how the elder will be the “future of my politics” due to his “rags-to-riches” story. C

Concurrently, Mi-joo rushes out of her new nail salon; worried Young-soon has bought pesticide for a fatal reason.

At Hae-sik’s grave, Young-soon opens up to Kang-ho and explains that he was never allowed to attend picnics because of her fear he wouldn’t return, just like her parents didn’t, and just like her husband didn’t either.

Then, the pig farmer is cheered up by her son’s words that Lion, the one remaining pig, will be the catalyst for the farm reopening when he grows up and has piglets.

What does Kang-ho do once in a rehab centre?

As Kang-ho heads to the public bath alongside Sam-sik and Seo-jin, Young-soon makes more arrangements. This time, it’s based around the rehab centre her son will receive care following her death and the money used to pay for it.

Meanwhile, Woo-byeok is in high spirits upon discovering Kang-ho regularly exposed his company, believing the prosecutor had the right “ambition” to make connections by doing so.

After more memories flood back for Kang-ho (the words Tae-soo used to put him down), he is officially put into Onsomang Rehab Centre to live.

Here, a tearful Young-soon has to dash out of the facility when her son breaks down, unable to tell him she’s ill or allay his fears she’s moving somewhere alone to avoid his occasionally bad behaviour.

The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 7 Ending Explained

Continuing, Kang-ho escapes from the centre, nervously wheeling himself home to the point he’s bleeding and sweating so that he can see his mother. As for Young-soon, she is leaving notes behind for everyone to read once she passes and adjusting her house for seemingly the final time.

To end the episode, a desperate Kang-ho stands once again, clutching onto his mother to save her from hanging herself.
