The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 8 Recap
How does Kang-ho walk again?
In the face of his mother’s eager requests to have him stand again, an upset Kang-ho heads outside before breaking down in front of Mi-joo. Then, the nail technician fixes the overwhelmed prosecutor’s chipped fingernail and offers assurance that Young-soon wouldn’t have “abandoned” him, or at the very least, wouldn’t have left without a good explanation.
When trying to explain her illness, Young-soon gets things muddled, accidentally making it come across like her son was a “burden” for needing around-the-clock care.
However, things are swiftly hashed out, and Kang-ho – providing he gets well enough in time – will be allowed to be his mother’s guardian during her cancer treatment.
After some more physical therapy and desperate measures (like being thrown into water), Kang-ho manages to get walking again, to the delight of Young-soon.
Elsewhere, Ji-suk grows frustrated that Mr. Cha is more concerned with lettuce leaves than finding evidence against Tae-soo, which is growing in popularity amongst the electorate.
What does Young-soon tell Hoon-ah?
Next, Mi-joo gets into some complications of her own when pursued by a creditor affiliated with Sun-young. This is because her children assume the man must be their father, and Gum-ja had lyingly been told he was, in fact, her daughter’s partner some time ago. Thus, Mi-joo has to quickly patch things up, though she can’t avoid discovering the already “heartbroken” Seo-jin and Ye-jin are being subject to teasing at school simply for not having a dad.
As Jou-ri Village gathers to gift Kang-ho a mobility scooter, they see for themselves he can actually walk again.
But genuine relief squashes any regret over financial losses, and a large-scale celebration follows. Nevertheless, Sam-sik’s father needs the mobility scooter himself, given he injures himself amidst the excitement.
Opening up to Hoon-ah, Young-soon admits she has terminal cancer but requests he doesn’t take away her pig farm once she dies.
Instead, she hopes it can be passed down to Kang-ho. During this period, Ji-suk is told by an excited Mr. Cha where the prosecutor’s belongings are stored.
Why is Young-soon concerned about Kang-ho’s note?
At night, Sam-sik again asks Mi-joo to clarify her feelings for Kang-ho, then asks her to marry him. Yet the nail technician has no interest, putting her friend down bluntly by explaining how she wants to pay off her debts first and foremost.
The next day, Young-soon receives a note allegedly written by Kang-ho a short while before his accident, but the pig farmer is concerned by its sentimental language.
So she confronts her son directly, wondering if he already knew he’d be targeted in the way he was or if the letter was meant to send a subliminal message.
Despite receiving no answer from her son, Young-soon is privy to the fact that Kang-ho’s fiancé was Tae-soo’s daughter (though the pig farmer is told not to call).
Concurrently, Ha-young solemnly prepares to be married into the Dosang Group, and Woo-byeok tries to taunt his enemy. However, the business mogul’s interest swiftly flits toward the fact Kang-ho can now walk again.
The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 8 Ending Explained
After Young-soon teaches Kang-ho what to do on her funeral day, she comes to a massive realization. Her son’s letter was a subtle message to her regarding a memory card he had stored in their family photo. With a shocked look on Young-soon’s face, the episode ends.
