Where was Platonic filmed – a breakdown of filming locations

Where was Platonic on Apple TV+ filmed? We discuss the highly anticipated TV series and its filming locations.

There’s a comedy-drama on Apple TV+ starring Rose Byrne and Seth Rogan. The pair start as former childhood best friends, both approaching middle age and filled with anxieties that this time of life can bring.

Many of you reading this may not be near the age this show appeals to, but if you think things are tough now, wait till you get to that point in life.

In this narrative, the pair of friends have drifted apart but are drifting back into each other’s orbit. They become more and more involved with each other as events start to escalate between them.

Rogan plays Will, who is recently divorced and reconnected with Byrne’s Sylvia in the opening episode. The cast members have worked together in the film Neighbours and the very literally titled sequel Neighbours 2, so there is a familiarity between the two that helps sell this premise.

The director of those movies, Nicholas Stoller, also created the TV show, so there is much playing to strengths here. We are interested in the production side of things as we answer the question where was the Apple TV+ series Platonic filmed?

Where was Platonic filmed – a breakdown of filming locations

Los Angeles

No real surprises here, as the show is a comedy grounded in the situation that the characters find themselves in, so LA is pretty much the location used for the show. Lots of shots in LA were done on location on the streets and utilizing various hot spots for scenes of the characters in cafes and restaurants.

There are a few locations in the show that you can track down if interested, so here are some of the more notable ones spotted so far.

Noe Restaurant and Bar, Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza

A few scenes are filmed here where the friends hang out for a while and are found in the downtown area of LA.

Paramount Studios

Paramount Studios is America’s second-oldest and the world’s fifth-oldest studio. The studio first appeared on the scene in 1912 and has been used for projects too numerous to mention.

You can get a tour of the property that you can find at 5515 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles 90038.

Some of the sets used in the filming appear in and around Sylvia’s house and garage.

Some iconic TV shows have used the studio location, including Star Trek, Glee, Happy Days, and This Is Us.
