The Good Bad Mother Season 1 Episode 13 Recap

How did Soo-hyun really die?

We begin with Yeong-jae telling Kang-ho the true story of Soo-hyun’s death, a suicide to avoid being captured by Tae-soo’s men. The former restauranteur lives in hiding himself now, too, shaken up by the fatal incident he believed would’ve seen him killed had he reported it to the police. Meanwhile, Sam-sik recognizes one of Tae-soo’s guards at the hospital and notes to Mi-joo that he must be shielding Ha-young.

As Sam-sik and Mi-joo prepare to steal hospital attire for their visit to Ha-young’s ward, Young-soon (with the help of Andrea) manages to prevent the police from investigating her house or asking any questions related to Soo-hyun’s alleged murder.

Concurrently, Hoon-ah produces a hit song based on Kang-ho’s annoying him, and Yong-rak gets a suit fitted for his “crime-free village commendation.”

How does Sung-ae find out about Young-soon’s illness?

Next, Yong-rak panics. His commendation could be threatened by Soo-hyun’s murder case, and he struggles to tell the police who the “true” Kang-ho is, given their CCTV footage shows him acting in entirely different ways. In the end, the village head says the prosecutor is always around Young-soon, likening him to the sun.

When Sung-ae disrupts a village card game by loudly bemoaning the comparisons made between Sam-sik and Kang-ho, believing that’s why she has been told off for making a ham-fisted joke about death, Gum-ja tells her about Young-soon’s stomach cancer. “You can’t go anywhere. You need to stay by my side and fight with me for the rest of my life,” the pig farmer is subsequently told by her frenemy, causing the two to embrace emotionally.

What is the next step in Kang-ho’s plan, and how does Ha-young become involved in it?

While Kang-ho, who is busy convincing his trusted investigator colleague he’ll now show his real self with his work, requests a digital forensic exam on Cheol-su’s phone, hoping the former construction worker has evidence against Woobyeok Group on it, orders are given to Ji-suk for the prosecutor to be killed. Elsewhere, Mi-joo presents the footage of Ha-young spiking her ex-partner’s drink straight to the culprit, wanting her to “confess” once they flee from her hospital room.

Motivated by the thought of breaking free of her father’s grasp and the fact that Kang-ho was targeted by Tae-soo again recently, Ha-young agrees to flee the hospital for “redemption.”

So, with the help of Mi-joo, Sam-sik, and even a stunned Kang-ho, the escape job is completed without a hitch.

Thanks to Kang-ho’s intimidation, Sam-sik’s old boss – the shady man threatening the young swindler over money – agrees to let his house become the temporary resting place of the four escapees.

Following this, the prosecutor talks privately with Ha-young, apologizing for “dragging” her into this ordeal with Tae-soo and admitting he never loved her.

What is Kang-ho and Mi-joo’s relationship status?

After overhearing that she is, in fact, the woman loved by Kang-ho, Mi-joo chases her partner down before he departs to find evidence against Woo-byeok, making sure he knows to return alive. That way, he can spend the rest of his life alongside her and their children. Then, the two mark their short-term upcoming separation with a passionate kiss.

As Yong-rak is filled in on what’s happening with Kang-ho in relation to Soo-hyun’s murder case, Mi-joo explains to her mother just why she can’t let go of her prosecutor partner despite the hurt he has caused from his abandonment.

This, in turn, allows Gum-ja to begrudgingly approve of her daughter’s relationship.
