My Fault follows Noah, a beautiful, independent, proud, and brilliant young woman who doesn’t need anyone. She has just moved into a mansion with her mother, Rafaella, who has married Will, a wealthy billionaire with a 21-year-old son, Nick, as they fend off their friction-filled attraction to each other – at the ending of the movie, Noah’s mother is not happy with her daughter’s developing relationship with Nick.
My Fault Ending Explained
Noah must navigate her new life, her attraction to Nick, and a stalker as she’s on the verge of turning into an adult. Also, she overcame the demons from her past, which involved an abusive father who traumatized her as a small child.
How is Noah’s father, Padre, killed?
Noah’s father is shot and killed by a detective while riding in the passenger seat of Nick’s car. Noah kidnaps his daughter by having a local gangster, Ronnie, drug and abduct her. When Nick figures out how to locate Padre, Noah, and Ronnie (since Ronnie has Nick’s car), he uses his insurance tracker to find them. Padre forces his daughter to drive in a high-speed chase and holds her at gunpoint.
While being chased by the police with Nick having a detective in his passenger seat, Noah and Padre are cornered at the end of a dock in a crowded marina. Nick pulls his car onto the opposite end of the pier. They make eye contact (they must have perfect vision) and immediately know what to do — performing a 20/60 spin maneuver.
They drive straight at each other and execute the maneuver, spinning past each other. Noah ducks his head; Nick does the same. The detective then fires her gun. Padre is shot and killed. If you remember, Noah teaches Nick that maneuver while watching a movie, even though he thinks it’s impossible.
Noah says pulling the brake and turning the wheel 20 degrees to the right and 60 degrees to the left can accomplish this maneuver.
How do Noah and Nick fall in love?
Noah and Nick fall in love because the abandonment trauma has damaged them. Nick doesn’t know his mother, is abandoned by his stepmother, and still decides to have a relationship with his young stepsister, who has a chronic case of type one diabetes. Of course, Noah had a violent relationship with her father, and she never had a father figure.
You could also argue that Noah is a lot like her father. Noah comments during their fight that she enjoys violence because it unburdens her. Nick’s father does comment that Noah’s father is violent and that some people damage others because violence unburdens them. Based on presexual programming, women are attracted to men like their fathers.
However, when Nick apologizes and tells Noah he’s done with that world, only then does she fall deeply beyond a physical attraction.
What does Noah’s mom say at the end of the film?
At the ending of My Fault, Noah’s mother, Rafaella, says to her husband, “Will, we have to do something.” She says this after we see Nick and Noah spend the night together in Nick’s home, the guest house on his father’s property. We can assume that Rafaella and Noah are upset with this arrangement for a few reasons.
For one, Noah is only 17 years old, and Nick is 22. (It’s important to note that Spain’s statutory rape laws are for anyone under 16 years of age, even though in the film, they talk about her not being eighteen yet). Second, while it is perfectly legal to date or marry your step-sibling, this could also break up Rafaella and Will if the children break up.
Obviously, they didn’t grow up together and form a sibling bond. However, Noah may be worried Nick is a loose cannon like Noah’s father, and he’s not good enough for her.
