10 TV Shows like From you must watch

We discuss 10 TV shows like From you must watch. Add these well-recommended and thrilling series to your watch list.

The buzz-worthy series From on MGM+ (formerly Epix) stars veteran actor Harold Perrineau and has one hell of a setup. Perrineau stars as Boyd Stevens, the former Iraqi War veteran who has made himself the self-appointed Sheriff of Township, a city in Middle America that won’t let you leave once you arrive.

From is a mystery like no other, with the residents of Township trapped because of a surrounding forest full of ferocious monsters that are a cross between Pan’s Labyrinth‘s “The Pale Man” and Stranger Things‘ “Demogorgon,” keeping them at bay.

Creator John Griffin (Crater) and Lost executive producers Jack Bender and Jeff Pinkner have built a loyal fanbase well into its second season.

We have compiled a list of similar series like From.

10 TV Shows like From

Carnivàle (2003-2005)

The cult-classic gothic tale of the former HBO series Carnivàle was a mystical, haunting tale of drifters and grifters that served as a metaphor for good versus evil, specifically Darkness versus Light.

Hemlock Grove (2013 -2015)

A Netflix streaming series that has the unusual distinction of having all three seasons pulled from the networking giant last year (and now can be streamed on FilmRise), Hemlock Grove was one of Netflix’s first streaming series.

Starring Famke Janssen and pre-Pennywise Bill Skarsgård, the story follows the residents of a small Pennsylvania town terrorized by evil hiding in plain sight.

Lost (2004-2010)

This is a biased pick because Lost remains one of my favorite shows of all time. The series follows the doomed Oceanic Flight 815 and the passengers’ survival on a “seemingly” deserted tropical island… with a polar bear.

Starring Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Terry O’Quinn, and From’s Harold Perrineau, Lost remains one of the greatest adventure series of the 21st century.

The Leftovers (2014-2017)

From the creators of Lost, The Leftovers was a series about members of a small New York town dealing with the fallout after 2% of the world’s population disappears.

Starring an all-star cast including Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Regina King, Carrie Coon, Margaret Qualley, and Ann Dowd, the Damon Lindelof creation has a rare Rotten Tomatoes critics and audience score with an over 90% approval rate.

The Society (2019- )

A fresh take on Lord of the Flies, The Society is about a group of high school students who return late from a field trip to discover their quaint Connecticut town abandoned, with all the residents mysteriously vanished. Soon, a hierarchy is formed as the students realize they cannot leave their community.

Starring Freaky‘s Katherine Newton, The Society is a thrilling and binge-worthy series.

Stranger Things (2016 – )

Stranger Things has become a worldwide phenomenon, shattering Netflix viewership records with over 80 million views within its first three seasons. Brimming with monsters, addictive storylines, a killer soundtrack, and breakout characters, Stranger Things will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the greatest television series ever.

Twin Peaks (1990-1991)

The David Lynch cult classic inspired dozens of copycats and is the perfect example of why a “true” limited series should never go beyond its initial first season. Starring Kyle MacLachlan as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, the story follows the investigation of the murder of Laura Palmer, a teenager in a small town in the Pacific Northwest surrounded by endless lush green forest.

Under the Dome (2013-2015)

Follows the story of Chester’s Mill residents, who find themselves trapped under a giant-sized clear dome with no means of escape. Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name and sporting a title as on-the-nose as Snakes on a Plane, the CBS series premiered in the summer of 2013 with a spine-tingling claustrophobic edge but ultimately lost momentum by the end of the series.

Wayward Pines (2015-2016)

Matt Dillion plays a  Secret Service agent who travels to Idaho and arrives in the town of Wayward Pines looking for two missing federal agents. Like From, after entering the community, he soon realizes he may be unable to leave town alive.

This psychological thriller was executive produced by M. Night Shyamalan.

Yellowjackets (2021- )

Part psychological horror and coming-of-age drama, Ashley Lyle’s series is the most addictive show since Lost.
