10 Movies like Sam
Freaky (2020)
This is possibly one of the most underrated horror comedies of the last decade. Blumhouse has been able to create such fun original films, and this is one of them.
After swapping bodies with a deranged serial killer, a high-school senior discovers she has fewer than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent. If you missed Vince Vaughn on screen, this is the one to watch.
Freaky Friday (2003)
When Lindsay Lohan was at the peak of her career, you couldn’t touch her. She had a string of successful films, including this Disney hit alongside Jamie Lee Curtis. An overworked mother and her daughter do not get along. When they switch bodies, each is forced to adapt to the other’s life for one freaky Friday.
The Hot Chick (2002)
Rachel McAdams has her own string of rom-coms that have gained a cult following over the years, and this is one of them. An attractive and popular teenager, who is mean-spirited toward others, finds herself in the body of an older man and must find a way to get back to her original body.
13 Going on 30 (2004)
The timeless classic 13 Going on 30 is one of the best body swaps ever. Even though it is a bit far-fetched with a sprinkle of wishing dust, 13-year-old Jenna Rink (Jennifer Garner) wishes to be “30, flirty, and thriving.” When she wakes up the following day, she is a full-grown woman working at her favorite magazine, but she isn’t the same 13-year-old that she once was.
The Change-Up (2011)
Dave is a married man with three kids and a loving wife, and Mitch is a single man who is in the prime of his sexual life. One fateful night while Mitch and Dave are peeing in a fountain, lightning strikes, and they switch bodies.
If you didn’t think Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman would ever be in a movie together, guess again. Their comedic timing and individual comedic style are a perfect match.
Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle (2017)
In this remake that no one asked for, Jumanji was modernized to suit the current video game climate. And it worked. Four teenagers are sucked into a magical video game, and the only way they can escape is to work together to finish the game. The teens are launched into the bodies of the avatars in the game, which makes it hilarious.
17 Again (2009)
Mike O’Donnell is ungrateful for how his life turned out. He gets a chance to rewrite his life when he tries to save a janitor near a bridge and jumped after him into a time vortex. Matthew Perry turns into Zac Efron in this film, and it’s surprisingly heartfelt. It’s one of the better Efron films to come out during the peak of his career after High School Musical.
Big (1988)
Tom Hanks really did bring a boyish charm to the adult version of Josh in Big. After wishing to be made big, a teenage boy wakes the next morning to find himself mysteriously in an adult’s body. If you don’t know where the dancing piano scene in the toy store comes from, this is the movie, and it’s so fun to see it in context.
Face/Off (1997)
There’s so much to love about Face/Off. Not only did action connoisseur John Woo direct this amazing action piece, but John Travolta and Nicolas Cage are almost identical. Hence the title.
To foil a terrorist plot, an FBI agent undergoes facial transplant surgery to assume the identity of the criminal mastermind who murdered his only son. However, the criminal wakes up prematurely and seeks revenge.
The Princess Switch (2018)
Vanessa Hudgens has always been talented, but she really showed her acting chops in this dual role. When competing in a Christmas baking competition in Belgravia, a Chicago baker bumps into the prince’s fiancée — who looks just like her. They switch lives for two days to see how their lives would be.
