10 Movies like Sisu you must watch

We discuss 10 Movies like Sisu you must watch. Add these well-recommended and highly-rated films to your watch list.

If you missed Sisu in theatres, you should try catching it digitally. It is notably one of the best films of 2023, only one hour and thirty minutes. For a war film to have such a short runtime is shocking today, so it’s interesting to see everything that they put into this film. Even though it was originally released in 2022, it had a wide theatrical release this year.

The story is about an ex-soldier who discovers gold in the Lapland wilderness and tries to take the loot into the city, but Nazi soldiers led by a brutal S.S. officer battle him. This war film is different because it acts as an adventure film more so than a war epic.

The films listed below combine a historical wartime story with a different perspective to shed light on the many soldiers who entered the war, and those who stayed in the area for years.

10 Movies like Sisu

John Wick (2014)

Bless Keanu Reeves and this hit of a franchise. The action sequences in all of the John Wick films have been high-octane fun. An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters who killed his dog and stole his car. No one kills a dog and gets away with it.

First Blood  (1982)

Not only did Sylvester Stallone make a name for himself with the Rocky franchise, but Rambo was a wild action film and definitely risque in the 80s. A veteran Green Beret is forced by a cruel Sheriff and his deputies to flee into the mountains and wage an escalating one-man war against his pursuers. It’s action-packed, bloody, and well done for the period.

Inglorious Basterds (2009)

Quentin Tarantino knows how to make a good picture; sometimes, his films can be over-the-top with their subject matter. In Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a plan to assassinate Nazi leaders by a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers coincides with a theatre owner’s vengeful plans for the same.

This has a stacked cast, and it won Christoph Waltz his first Oscar.

Max Max: Fury Road (2015)

Another remake that no one thought would be better than its predecessor, but director George Miller came out swinging.

In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in search of her homeland with the aid of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshipper, and a drifter named Max. Charlize Theron stole the spotlight as Furiosa, and Tom Hardy was the perfect Max.

Nobody (2021)

One of the most under-appreciated action films of 2021 belongs to Bob Odenkirk. A docile family man slowly reveals his true character after his house gets burgled by two petty thieves, coincidentally leading him into a bloody war with a Russian crime boss.

Fury (2014)

Before David Ayer took on Suicide Squad for D.C., he made a great war epic with Fury. A grizzled tank commander makes tough decisions as he and his crew fight their way across Germany in April 2014. It has different perspectives from each character and a strong cast to bring it all together.

Hacksaw Ridge (2016)

Director Mel Gibson returns with this historical drama that earned some Oscar nominations in 2017. World War II American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, who served during the Battle of Okinawa, refused to kill people and becomes the first man in American history to receive the Medal of Honor without firing a shot.

The Raid (2011)

Director Gareth Edwards delivers one of the best action films of the 2010s. A S.W.A.T. team becomes trapped in a tenement run by a ruthless mobster and his army of killers and thugs. It has become a cult classic, and many still discuss the action set pieces to this day.

Atomic Blonde (2017)

If you like John Wick, then Atomic Blonde is the sister film that perfectly goes with it. After winning an Oscar, Charlize Theron quickly became an action star and killed every single role she took. In this film, she plays an undercover MI6 agent who is sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents.

Extraction (2020)

Written by the Russo brothers, the duo reunites with Chris Hemsworth in this killer action film for Netflix. Tyler Rake is a fearless black market mercenary who embarks on the most deadly extraction of his career. He is enlisted to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord.

The action set pieces are really strong, and it’s a fast-paced film with non-stop action. It is definitely one of the better Netflix action films on the platform.
