All in all, Skull Island has been an impressive animated series.
It comes as no surprise that the Season 1 finale leaves with more questions than answers. It’s evident that the creators expect way more seasons to wrap this story.
Episode 8 is action-packed as the islanders are faced with two beasts battling: Kong versus the Sea Monster.
Skull Island Season 1 Episode 8 Recap
The group dismisses Charlie’s idea to get Kong to help them defeat the Sea Monster. Charlie wants to bait the ape with a necklace he’s obsessed with. He’s desperate; he doesn’t want his best friend, Mike, to die. Mike’s health is deteriorating rapidly.
Who helps Charlie on his mission to bait Kong?
Annie decides to join Charlie on his mission, accompanied by Dog. Charlie’s father wishes him luck. Annie and Charlie travel to Kong’s lair. The towering Kong looms over them. They grab Kong’s favorite necklace and storm off on Dog, baiting Kong to chase them.
Charlie’s plan seemingly pays off as Kong is taken to near the sea. However, the others notice Charlie no longer rides with Annie and Dog.
Does Kong fight the Sea Monster?
Annie stops and holds the necklace up to Kong, which stops the creature in its tracks. Annie throws the necklace on the floor. The Sea Monster then appears, instantly attacking Kong, who grapples with it.
The Sea Monster flings Kong with ease. Meanwhile, Cap tries to find Charlie in the jungle, but he ends up fighting a creature. Mike helps him defeat it before collapsing.
Meanwhile, Charlie is trapped in the jungle, hanging from a tree. Tribe members surround him, telling Charlie he’ll suffer for what he did to Kong.
Does Kong defeat the Sea Monster?
Kong plunges to the depths of the sea with the Sea Monster. He finds a shipwreck, smashes the Sea Monster with it, and swims away. Meanwhile, Dog struggles to swim in the sea, and a desperate Annie tries to encourage him. However, Dog struggles to swim and ends up going under. However, Kong saves Dog.
The Sea Monster returns to the surface, but the Kong is prepared this time and uses its brute strength to defeat it.
And then, a vast wave rises and hits the island, flooding it and wiping out Annie and Dog.
Skull Island Season 1 Ending Explained
As Season 1 of Skull Island ends, Annie wakes up in the hospital and freaks out. Irene tries to calm her down, but she hates being in rooms. Irene explains that she’s been asleep for two weeks. Annie opens her hospital room window and sees she’s in a city.
Annie asks her mother, Irene, how old she is. Her mother confirms she is either 16 or 17 years old.
