Angel Maturino Resendiz was born in 1959 and was placed at one point on the F.B.I.’s ten most wanted fugitive list after entering the minds of the general public and becoming The Railroad Killer.
He was born in Izucar de Matamoros, Puebla, Mexico, but died in Texas in 2006.
It was reported that he was responsible for the murder of twenty-three people.
At an early age, it was recorded that he would leave home to escape an abusive father and would find work in Texas, where he lived with a cousin.
He would work within the railroad industry.
Reséndiz would come to live in America, but his marriage would dissolve, and he would be estranged from his wife and three children, becoming homeless. The nickname came about as it was assumed he was making his way illegally between the U.S. and Mexico by jumping on and off railway cars.
What did The Railroad Killer do?
Reséndiz had a method of operating that would find him using fake identities to evade capture and using the railway system to get around. After seeing his victims, he would go to their homes and brutally murder them using a blunt object like a rock, and in some cases, he used a pick axe.
Chillingly, after the murders, he would frequently stay in the house, preparing food and looking for items to steal, such as money or jewelry.
Often these items would be given to his mother and wife, who stayed in Mexico.
Although there was often evidence of sexual assault on his victims, it did not seem to be his primary motivation, and often his victims would be covered in a blanket.
Reséndiz would kill both male and female victims during his terror spree.
Was The Railroad Killer Executed?
Yes. A jury found him guilty of his crimes, and he was given the death sentence. He would be executed by the administration of lethal injection on June 27th, 2006.
How long was The Railroad Killer in jail for?
