Joe Pickett Season 2 Episode 7 Recap
Vern gives Joe a hard time about how horrible his time has been in prison. Joe isn’t trying to hear about it because he is there to hear the story about the wolf pack. However, Vern isn’t giving away information for free and wants a deal that leads to his early release. Despite what Vern says, Joe isn’t willing to listen because of what he did to Marybeth. After a long talk with Marybeth, Joe realizes he must put his pride aside and get Vern out.
Joe pays a visit to Arlen Scarlett, who is the lone remaining man in that photo who isn’t dead (outside of Randy, who’s in jail). Arlen isn’t very welcoming to Joe’s aggressive nature and pulls a gun on him. He tells him that maybe he should be the one watching his back.
What information does Vern give Joe about the case?
Vern tells a story about a young girl from the reservation who walked into the restaurant accusing a bunch of hunters that hired her to be the camp cook, but they drugged and raped her. However, the deputy didn’t do anything about it, as it was her word versus the hunters.
While Marybeth got onto her mother for almost spilling something all over her spread of detective work, she had the counter. Missy saw the wolf pack picture and said, “What kind of hunter carries a pink backpack?” This triggers Marybeth to realize that Marissa might have been at the camp.
Who is Shenandoah?
Joe heads to the school to talk to a teacher about Shenandoah, the girl that accused the hunters of drugging and raping her. She shows him a picture of an old yearbook, and looking at it, he realizes that Shenandoah is Shannon Moore, Klamath Moore’s wife, and Joe realizes why Klamath Moore is really in Saddlestring.
Joe enlists a plan with Sheriff Barnum to get Nate to help them bait Klamath into going after Randy. Klamath falls for the trap, but a wrong misstep by Sheriff Barnum leads to Klamath fleeing on foot. This leads to a massive chase on foot, with Nate unable to see what is happening and Joe unsure of what to do.
Joe Pickett Season 2 Episode 7 Ending Explained
Who dies in “Fair Chase”?
The chase ends with Klamath putting his hands in the air and Sheriff Barnum shouting to tell him to put his weapon down (he doesn’t have one, and Barnum knows this). Barnum shoots and kills Klamath, and when Deputy McLanahan and Joe arrive at the scene, they see he doesn’t have a weapon, but it is his cell phone.
Marybeth calls Joe to inform him that the drugging and raping have been happening for many years, and while they are on the phone, Shenandoah arrives, announcing she is “Shenandoah, killer of rapists,” and slices Randy’s throat.
