In Time features a dystopian society where time is money, meaning the wealthy live forever. Will Salas (Justin Timberlake) is a poor man who gets by with a day’s worth of life on his time clock. But when he saves Henry Hamilton (Matt Bomer) from time thieves, Will receives the gift of a century, more time, which attracts the attention of the authorities.

Time and class are common themes in movies, with the former especially giving mind-bending and complex plots, while class is a recurring theme in which society holds a mirror up to itself. If you liked watching In Time, then here are ten other movies you should watch.

The Matrix (1999)

Neo (Keanu Reeves), finds out that he’s actually been living inside a simulation called the Matrix, and believes that Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) can give him the answers he seeks. Neo is contacted by Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), a beautiful stranger who can take Neo to Morpheus.

They have to fight a brutal battle against a group of dangerous secret agents, led by Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving).

Minority Report (2002)

Based on the 1956 book by Philip K. Dick, Minority Report follows  Chief John Anderton (Tom Cruise), the Precrime program commanding officer. His job is to use psychic technology to arrest and convict murderers before they can kill their victims. But Anderton himself is arrested when he’s accused of the future murder of a man he’s never met before.

Looper (2012)

In a future society where time travel is available to those who can afford it, the mob uses it to close off loose ends. When they want to eliminate someone, they send the target back in time, where a hitman known as a looper kills them. Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is such a hitman, and he’s good at what he does.

One day, his bosses decide that Joe has no more use to them, and sends Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) back in time to be killed.

Memento (2000)

Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce) is trying to find the guy who raped and murdered his wife, something which is made difficult due to an attack left that him with a rare and untreatable form of memory loss.

He can recall details from his life before this attack but struggles with recalling events that happen 15 minutes ago, and he can’t remember where he’s going or why.

Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

When Earth is attacked by aliens, no military in the world can hope to beat them. With the planet destined to fall, Maj. William Cage (Tom Cruise), an officer who’s never seen combat, is assigned to a mission and is killed within moments of fighting.

But luckily for Cage, he finds himself stuck in a time loop, forced to relive the same brutal death over and over again. But this gives him the opportunity to improve his skills each loop, bringing him ever close to beating the previously-thought invincible aliens.

Source Code (2011)

U.S. Army Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) is part of a secret military operation that sends him into a recreation of the last eight minutes before a bomb explodes on a train. Colter’s mission is to identify the bomber and to prevent other tragedies like it from happening.

Snowpiercer (2013)

Another film that largely takes place on a train, Snowpiercer is based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette. The train circles the world carrying the last of humanity after a failed attempt to stop global warming.

Curtis Everett (Chris Evans) is the leader of the lower-class section of passengers, as they rebel against the elite at the front of the train.

Predestination (2014)

As his last assignment, a temporal agent called Agent Doe (Ethan Hawke) is tasked to go back to March 1975 and stop an elusive criminal from detonating a bomb in New York that kills thousands of people, something that turns out to much be harder than Doe imagined.

Tenet (2020)

Tenet follows a former CIA agent known only as Protagonist (John David Washington) as he learns how to manipulate time to prevent a future attack that will cause World War III.

Timecop (1994)

Set in a world where humanity has perfected time travel, the government creates the Time Enforcement Commission (TEC) to prevent criminals from altering the timeline.

Police officer Max Walker (Jean-Claude Van Damme) is recruited by TEC Commander Eugene Matuzak (Bruce McGill) to investigate Senator Aaron McComb (Ron Silver), but keeps being thwarted by the government.
