Summary

An excellent in-depth docu-series about how dedicated football players are to their sport, especially the quarterbacks.

Here is our review of the 2023 Netflix documentary series Quarterback Season 1, released on July 12th, 2023.

There are many football fans out there, and it seems that the popularity of the sport has reached further than just the United States. Even Canadians are tuning into designated football game days. The Quarterback docuseries is produced by NFL Films and Omaha Productions, which is Peyton Manning’s production company.

He is also the executive producer of the project and brought everything together. As a former quarterback himself, he was able to oversee and bring forward some crucial moments for the position on the team.

As an outsider who isn’t really involved in the game of football, this series will open your eyes to just how hard they work to get prepped for the season. They play for a short period of time and don’t have that many games, but it is the most strenuous game next to hockey.

They have to be in prime physical shape, or else they could get hurt pretty badly.

Quarterback Season 1 Review

As everyone knows, Quarterbacks are the most protected and possibly important players on any football team. They must have an arm of gold and control the plays to get the touchdown.

In this series, Netflix dives deep into the lives of three quarterbacks: Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota. It highlights the 2022 season as they explore the struggles and the stress of carrying so much of the team. It is a demanding position, and not many people understand that.

Patrick Mahomes has won two Super Bowl championships with the Kansas City Chiefs by the age of 27 and is seen as one of the best young quarterbacks with the way that he plays. Kirck Cousins plays for the Minnesota Vikings and has led them to an NFC North crown win in 2022. Marcus Mariota won the Heisman Trophy in 2014 and smashed his first season with the Atlanta Falcons. Each quarterback has their own lives and tactics to get through the season but also balance their home life as well.

It’s hard to take care of a family but also take care of a team at the same time. As a quarterback, the game becomes a part of you, a piece of your life that you need to give 100% every time you go out there. We see that there’s so much pressure on all of them within the eight episodes of this docu-series.

Is Quarterback Season 1 good or bad?

If you’re a sports fan, you will love this docu-series. Even if you’re not a diehard football fan, you will appreciate the lives of these athletes and the dedication they put into their job. This eight-part series dives into every aspect of their lives, and it is filmed extremely well.

No stone goes unturned, but they also integrate the social aspect with the fans. It’s not only a physical or mental attachment to the game but everything that goes on outside of the stadium as well.

Is Quarterback Season 1 worth watching?

Quarterback is definitely worth the watch because of how detailed each episode is. It helps that the NFL is behind this, along with Peyton Manning, so they can oversee everything. It’s one of the most authentic sports docu-series that is on the platform right now.

It’s impressive to see different footage and how it affects the players. It’s everything they don’t show you on their social media or on television, and this is important to understand the humanity of these players.
