Foundation Season 2 Episode 2 Recap

Starting with Gaal’s storyline. She is confronted by an angry Hari, who has finally escaped from his prison after over a century locked inside his torture chamber. While he argues with Gaal, the storm outside intensifies.

Hari explains how they need to create a second Foundation, although Gaal had stopped this from happening in her old timeline because she didn’t trust Hari. He tells them that there is another war coming, and they need to lessen the blow. Salvor interrupts this argument; her ship is about to be shipwrecked.

They need to fix the ship’s fault immediately. Of course, Hari uses his genius to solve this problem before disappearing from view.

Then Salvor mends an external issue on the ship’s roof. Afterward, Gaal guides them safely into outer space.

Later, Hari reappears to discuss the ensuing war. He says that they cannot interfere. Gaal shows Hari the turning point in the plan, where the second crisis appears.

It is 150 years from now. Hari orders Gaal to use her powers to envision this coming threat.

What happens in Gaal’s vision?

Gaal has another vision, in which she is in battle with The Mule (Mikael Persbrandt). He is a telepathic warlord and the source of the coming darkness. He mentions his followers, the Mentalics, and an individual called Hober Mallow. The Mule then tries to extract the location of the second Foundation from Gaal’s memories.

Salvor wakes Gaal from her vision. Gaal updates Hari on the contents of this vision. She thinks that The Mule is afraid of the second Foundation; it is the only thing that can stop him from galactic domination. Hari asks her to dig into her memories to find the location of the second Foundation. That is where they will head next.

Who are Brother Constant and Poly Verisof?

Meanwhile, on Siwenna in the Outer Reach, two clerics find themselves under threat. These clerics, Brother Constant and Poly Verisof are from the Foundation and they are tasked with recruiting new followers on the planet. While performing to the masses, they are sent an important message.

The Vault is opening up, and Hari Seldon’s second coming is about to occur. Poly worries that this resurrection means the coming of a second crisis as well. They journey back to their home of Terminus for this holiest of occasions.

On Terminus, they are met by Warden Jaegger Fount. He wants to be the one to greet Hari when he finally exits the Vault. Poly is hurt to hear this news. He thought that he would be the one meeting Hari Seldon first. Poly is called a magician and an alcoholic in their defense of this decision.

What is Demerzel’s plan?

Back on Trantor, Brother Day prepares for his wedding. Demerzel informs him that Day’s brothers weren’t involved in the assassination attempt. Although they could have just had their memories wiped. Demerzel has actually done this herself to Day’s staff to hide her relationship with Empire. Demerzel suggests that Brother Day hires the General Bel Riose to liaise with Foundation.

Later, Brother Day, Dawn, and Dusk all share a meal with Queen Sareth. Again, she is rude and purposely antagonistic. She talks outright about the brothers being clones and talks of Day being attacked.

Queen Sareth is confrontational and even flirts with Dawn, but Day is impressed by her intellect regardless.

He shows her around the palace, explaining the process behind the cloning. Brother Day admits that if they are to procreate, then he will destroy all of the clones. Queen Sareth discusses the process of making an heir.

Brother Day wants to create an emotional bond via sexual intercourse but would still prefer to have the baby in the lab.

Queen Sareth points out the rumors of Day’s corrupt lineage.

Foundation Season 2 Episode 2 Ending Explained

The episode ends with a gathering outside of The Vault. Warden Jaegger kneels before the artifact, offering himself to Hari. The Warden is then taken control of and levitates in the air. He shouts over and over again the name Hober Mallow before his body is set on fire. Jaegger dies instantly (it’s not been a great year for Mindhunter actors has it?). The name Hober Mallow is then engraved across the exterior of The Vault.

In the final moments, Gaal confesses to Salvor. She hid one aspect of the vision from her. Gaal saw Salvor’s dead body in her premonition.
