Summary
This episode has everything, from intense action and beautiful animation to shocking moments and heart-wrenching emotional beats. It’s impossible for non-manga readers to predict and is sure to leave all viewers traumatized until next week.
We recap the Crunchyroll anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 3, “Hidden Inventory 3,” which contains spoilers.
While everything seemed to be going smoothly enough at first, circumstances have changed significantly now that Kuroi (voiced by Risa Shimizu) has been kidnapped.
There’s no doubt that Riko (voiced by Anna Nagase) will want to save her only family member, but with Gojo (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura) escorting her, he may not see the caretaker’s safety as a priority.
Even if Geto (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai) is also in danger, it’s unlikely Gojo will veer from the mission, especially knowing his friend is usually capable of holding his own.
Either way, the goal now is to get Riko to Jujutsu High, a task that may be even more complicated, knowing every nearby sorcerer is itching to get their hands on the bounty placed on Riko’s head.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
The episode begins with Gojo and Geto discussing their options now that Kuroi has been kidnapped. They still believe they have the upper hand since they have Riko, who they plan to take to Jujutsu High first.
However, Riko refuses, insisting she joins them in saving Kuroi, whom she hasn’t yet gotten the chance to say goodbye to.
The kidnappers demand that Gojo, Geto, and Riko fly to Okinawa, where they successfully and relatively easily rescue Kuroi. The group then heads to the beach to celebrate, but Geto still finds himself suspicious.
Who is Yu Haibara?
Yu Haibara is a first-year student coming to Okinawa to aid Geto and Gojo on their mission to get Riko back to Jujutsu High.
What does Toji’s Heavenly Pact/Restriction do?
Toji’s Heavenly Pact/Restriction negates the cursed energy from his body in exchange for superhuman abilities like increased strength, senses, and speed.
This way, other sorcerers cannot predict his moves, as Toji is only using his own physical prowess to fight.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 3 Ending Explained
Gojo ends up gravely injured by Toji, while Geto manages to get Riko into the basement near Tegen. Once there, Geto offers Riko the chance to turn around one last time. She cries, saying she wants more time, so Geto reaches out his hand, offering to take her home. Just then, Riko is shot through the head and killed by Toji.
Toji then tells Geto he killed Gojo, prompting Geto to get ready to attack in retaliation.
I should’ve known something was wrong by how wholesome this episode started. While I was expecting a confrontation with Toji, I would’ve never guessed that it would play out like this.
It’s so hard to see him like this and know that he’s Megumi’s father of all people.
It’s clear that the animators of Jujutsu Kaisen put a lot of effort and detail into their work, as this episode was as beautiful as it was emotionally devastating.
Gojo’s techniques were especially amazing to see fully animated, looking even better than I could’ve imagined. To see so much attention to detail in what some people regard as a flashback arc truly shows you how much love there is for this series.
If this is what the first three episodes are like, I can’t imagine how good the last two will be.
