Joe Pickett Season 2 Episode 9 Recap
We rewind a little while leading up to the moment Marybeth decided to get out of the truck to point the gun at Sheriff Barnum. She’s visibly shaken when he arrives, but she explains that she knows everything, but Sheriff Barnum refutes what she is saying. He pushes towards her and takes the gun away, then makes her take Marissa’s phone out, and he shoots it.
Who shoots Sheriff Barnum?
As Sheriff Barnum points the gun at Marybeth, Shannon attacks from behind, leading to a brawl on the ground, and Barnum gets his gun and shoots her in the shoulder. Upon getting up, he is about to finish the job, but Marybeth shoots Sheriff Barnum, knocking him to the ground.
A cop arrives at the scene, and Shannon and Marybeth go on the run together. Deputy McLanahan arrives, saying he is in charge of the case and permits to “Shoot on sight.” Joe arrives, and he and McLanahan have words over his order leading to Joe punching him in the face. Cricket calls Nate to inform him that Joe is in trouble.
When Joe arrives at the cabin where Shannon and Marybeth are, Marybeth tries to convince him that Shannon isn’t the bad guy right now. They both realize that the photo they gave Sheriff Barnum and the voicemail are gone, meaning the evidence they have to free themselves from their situation. Joe and Marybeth get into a big fight over him not handling his emotions properly.
Hank Scarlett and his crew find out that Shannon is still alive, and they head out on a race to hunt them down and finish the job. As they head into the woods to begin the hunt, one of the guys is nabbed by Nate, and he asks the man what the plan is, so he can try and get ahead of them.
How does Joe Pickett realize that Marissa is still alive?
Nate calls Joe and tells him that he squeezed one of Hank’s guys for information that they would head up to the mountain to take out one of the girls. Joe thought it was Shannon, but after a flashback of remembering the girl that healed him earlier in the season in the mountains with tattoos on her hands, he asked Shannon if she had tattoos, and she said yes. He realized Barnum had discovered that Marissa was the girl in the woods, and the men were on the hunt to kill her.
