Heartstopper Season 2 Episode 5 Recap
We see Nick in bed looking at text messages to his dad where he is trying to see him before he leaves Paris, with no answer. Charlie’s message comes across the screen, telling him to come to the bathroom now. The two talk about it in the bathroom when Tao walks in and sees the mark and tells Nick they will have a chat about that. After a knock on the door, Tao opens the door, and it’s Elle, and he is embarrassed as he has nothing but boxers on.
The moment everyone sees Charlie, they notice the hickey on his neck, and everyone begins to speculate who it was that left it on him. Later, the teachers put everyone in pairs, and Nick and Ben are put together, which pisses them both off. Ben confronts Nick about wanting to ruin his life. First, he messed up him and Charlie, then he and Imogen. He follows by saying what if he wants Charlie back.
Who was responsible for Nick having to come out?
After Nick came out to his close friends, Tao talked about it with Issac when someone overheard him, and he was getting bullied the following day. He blamed himself for that and was afraid to tell Nick the truth about it. As a result, Nick comforted him, wrote his and Tao’s name on the lock, and attached it to the bridge.
Nick tells Charlie about what Ben said about wanting him back, and Charlie laughs at the notion, but he starts to become light-headed, leading to him passing out. He quickly comes to, but the lack of eating from the stress surrounding him and Nick had gotten to him.

While everyone roams around the art museum, Elle asks Tao to go upstairs. The two begin small talk, and Elle says she wants to draw. Tao says he loves watching her draw. As she begins to draw, she grabs him and kisses him. At first, Tao wasn’t sure how to react, and Elle got upset, but he chased her down, and they embraced for another kiss.

Nick confronted Charlie about his eating habits. Charlie apologizes, but Nick tells him not to apologize, as he wants to understand. Charlie explains that he doesn’t eat like everyone else and often feels like it’s the only thing he can control. Nick’s dad calls in the middle of their talking, and this is when Charlie finds out that he speaks fluent French and about his father. Nick tells him that he promised to meet him at a cafe in twenty minutes and would like to introduce him to his dad. So the duo heads off to meet him as the episode ends.
