Now that so many truths have been revealed, leading Aki (voiced by Ayaka Ohashi) and Masamune (voiced by Natsuki Hanae) to date finally, one might think the anime would be over.
However, it seems that now that Masamune has Aki, navigating how to be her boyfriend is much harder than he initially thought, especially without the prospect of revenge to motivate him anymore.
With girls like Fujinomiya still waiting in the wings, is dating someone he doesn’t have feelings for still worth it, or is there a chance he and Aki could still fall for one another despite this misunderstanding?
Masamune-kun’s Revenge R Season 2 Episode 6 Recap
The episode opens with Masamune asking Aki if she would like to spend her birthday with him, and she agrees. He has no idea where to take Aki and struggles knowing he cannot ask Yoshino for advice.
For Aki’s birthday, Masamune ends up taking her to the movies and a cafe. Only they find the cafe has recently burned down when they show up and struggle to locate another restaurant with vacancies.
Where do Masamune and Aki end up eating for her birthday?
When nowhere else is open, Masamune suggests Aki eat come to eat at his place instead. He fears that his family will overreact as always but instead finds that they’ve left for Christmas.
Does Masamune kiss Aki?
After falling to the floor in his room, Masamune finds himself in the perfect position to kiss Aki but does not. Instead, he panics and runs away to seclude himself in the bathroom.
Masamune-kun’s Revenge R Season 2 Episode 6 Ending Explained
From the bathroom, Masamune texts Aki about retrieving her birthday gift from his pocket. She eventually returns home alone, wondering if she is unappealing to men.
As she opens her gift from Masamune, keychains resembling her childhood dogs, she reflects on what those old memories meant to her. She wonders if Masamune feels the same way, but she is left confused after seeing something suspicious in his open journal.
I’ve been curious as to where this series would go after Masamune gave up his revenge plan and was afraid it might struggle between the obvious next step of having Aki find out his old plan. While things were a bit slow in these last two episodes, they seemed to be picking up toward the end of this one.
I can only say they seemed to be picking up, as there was a lot of untranslated text in the episode that made it hard to follow toward the end. I am always unsure why Crunchyroll often chooses not to put subtitles where there is Japanese text, especially if no character will read it aloud or specify what it says. I found myself guessing or searching comments to see if anyone else had translated the messages, which took away from the moment.

I can only assume that what Aki saw in Masamune’s notebook was his revenge plan, and if it was, that definitely changes things for them going forward. It’s frustrating to know I can’t really be sure what she saw until next week, but I am excited to see if things pick back up again from here.
