Summary

An action-packed second installment with a sweet story surrounding friendship.

Here is our review of the 2023 Netflix anime movie The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 2, which does not contain spoilers.

In 2022 Netflix released The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh. The anime is about a young prince who embarks on a perilous journey to save his loved ones and discover his true powers when sinister forces threaten the peace of Britannia.

In this part, Tristen gains new powers as a healer, but he has trouble balancing two sides of him with the Demon Clan. When his mother’s life is endangered, Tristen heads to Edinburgh to seek a former Holy Knight, Deathpierce.

Part one and part two are an hour each, and it still feels perfectly fleshed out to fill two hours. Even though it plays out like a two-part film, it still feels whole. Now, fans will be able to watch both back to back in one sitting and feel fulfilled with the story they’re watching.

The one distracting thing is the dub on Netflix, but the subtitles do help in understanding what’s happening on screen. The visuals are well done in part two, and it almost feels as if you’re in the film with them.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 2 Review and plot summary

In part two, Lancelot keeps pushing Tristen because he doesn’t understand why he’s not letting himself reach his full potential. The dynamic between Lancelot and Tristen is interesting in this film because of how they see each other.

As the film goes on, Tristan understands that Lancelot is trying to be helpful and help him be the best version of himself. Tristen has some trouble getting there because of how his powers work. It’s an internal struggle as he tries to balance both sides of himself, ultimately going on a journey of self-acceptance and being able to help others with his powers.

Lord Deathpierce pushes Tristen in a different way than Lancelot by unleashing his army on both of them. They try to fight off the empties, but it’s no use. Tristen attempts to run through them on his horse, but there are too many of them for it to even work.

Instead of battling them, Lancelot turns to his fairy form and airlifts Tristan out of there with his horse. They were destined to fight Lord Deathpierce in order for Tristen to reach his full potential.

While Tristen charges Lord Deathpierce, Lancelot observes his fighting style and spots a crack in his system. Lord Deathpierce’s weakness is close-range attacks, and Lancelot uses that to his advantage.

While they divide the fighting, Lancelot vs. Lord Deathpierce and Tristen vs. The Priest, Tristen’s Demon powers creep out of him in certain moments, but he still wants to control them. If those powers were supposed to be unleashed at any time, it would most definitely be now.

Lancelot sees that he’s hiding a part of him during battle and is upset that he still doesn’t expel that power that could very well help them now. They have these conversations in between battles, but it’s important for Tristen to feel safe when he goes to that side.

Tristen’s main worry was that he would harm Lancelot again, but as Lord Deathpierce’s monster approaches Tristen, Lancelot has a plan. Lancelot uses their past arguments about sparring to build Tristen’s momentum to tap into the Demon’s side, and he promises him it will work.

Is The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 2 good or bad?

If you enjoyed part one of The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh, then part two will leave you satisfied. The storyline between Tristen and Lancelot is the heart of part two because of how he helps him tap into this other side of himself.

Lancelot can help him harness and tame his powers in the future because Tristen trusts him so much. It has really good action sequences, and it lasts the entire film. Sure, there are conversations in between, but they don’t drag as much.

Is The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 2 worth watching?

It is definitely worth the watch as an anime fan but also as a story between two best friends who know each other incredibly well.

Part two teaches audiences that sometimes you do have the power within you. You need the right support system and people you trust to help bring out the best in you.
