Film, television, and literature have been obsessed with the living dead for decades, and you can trace the history of zombies all the way back to the 1930s.
However, many sources will argue that the modern version of zombies that we know today all come from George Romero’s black-and-white shocker Night of the Living Dead in 1968.
The South Korean reality show taps into some of the tropes that films from the genre have used, including scenes set in a supermarket, invoking memories of the classic horror Dawn of the Dead from 1979.
It could be argued that the pinnacle of zombie mania may have passed us by now, however, South Korea feels there’s still some mileage in the premise, so buckle up as we take a deep dive into the Korean world of The Walking Dead and answer the question who survives Zombieverse?
What happens in Zombieverse?
This game show, which will probably end up being a documentary, follows a set of ten players, some of whom have appeared in other reality shows, who have to struggle against all manner of obstacles and horrors to make it to an evacuation ship at Incheon’s Wolmi Island.
The team starts their survival quest in Hongdae, Seoul, and has to get to safety from there.
Initially, the players believe they are on another reality show, a dating show, but things escalate very quickly when one of the players in that show turns into a zombie.
By episode two, the team has all finally met, and the quest for food and survival begins.
Various obstacles and dilemmas are placed in front of the players, and they have to try and work together to help each other and discuss strategies and plans to help them get through the nightmare simulation they have found themselves dropped into.

Who was infected in Zombieverse?
One of the main problems for the contestants on the show was, of course, avoiding being bitten and attacked by the shambling horrors in the show, as once you are bitten or scratched, you turn into a zombie yourself.
