Summary

“Love Triangle” uses a contrived setup to force Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah to finally address their feelings for one another. This allows for some intriguing drama and a morsel of closure, yet with these types of shows, that is always fleeting. This is a finale that will appease the fans, who will already be desperate for a third season to be released, but it is still generic nonetheless.

We recap the Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 8, “Love Triangle,” which contains spoilers and explains the Ending.

The second season of The Summer I Turned Pretty concludes with episode 8, “Love Triangle.” In the season finale, Belly (Lola Tung), Conrad (Christopher Briney), and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) take an awkward car drive home, where they end up tackling their true emotions for one another head-on for the first time ever.

Who will Belly choose, Conrad or Jeremiah?

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 Episode 8 Recap

The finale begins with Conrad exiting his exam. He phones Steven, confident that he has passed and gotten into Stanford. Steven asks if he is going to tell Belly how he truly feels. Conrad is excited to speak with Belly but finds her passionately kissing Jeremiah instead.

Conrad watches this heartbreaking scene play out and then runs away. Belly chases after him. She apologizes but makes things clear. This isn’t about Conrad at all.

The mind games are over; she likes Jeremiah now. Conrad goes back to his dorm to pack. Jeremiah and Belly wait to see if he shows up for the long drive home.

How does Conrad react to the kiss?

Eventually, Conrad returns. At first, he acts like nothing has happened, but slowly, he becomes passive-aggressive, lashing out at Jeremiah and Belly in a spiteful way. It’s a painful journey home, with Conrad provoking the others nonstop.

The trio ends up in traffic as the weather turns biblical. They decide to stop off for snacks and are informed by the store clerk that the highway is to be closed as an emergency flood warning is sent out.

They end up staying at a nearby motel. And as you will have rightfully guessed, there is only one room left and only one bed for the trio to sleep in. This contrived setup places the lovebirds in close quarters, where they must finally face their love triangle head-on.

In private, Jeremiah tells Belly that Conrad still loves her. He wants the two to have a conversation to address their feelings properly.

Jeremiah will accept whoever Belly chooses. Belly agrees to speak with Conrad in the morning when he has cooled down.

In the other subplots, Steven goes on a date with Taylor, but she also invites all of her friends. Steven is then informed that Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Milo has written and released a diss album all about Steven.

Meanwhile, Laurel goes to a writer’s meetup and befriends a fellow writer.

That night, Belly takes the bed, and the brothers sleep either side of her on the floor. After Jeremiah has fallen asleep, Conrad speaks openly with Belly. He admits that he still loves her.

Now, it is up to Belly to finally decide who she wants to be with once and for all.

Does Belly choose Conrad or Jeremiah?

In the morning, Belly chooses Jeremiah. The couple kiss one another. Belly goes to tell Conrad the bad news, but he has already preempted this response. He says that they will stay as just friends. Belly then takes her infinity necklace back to make things official. To avoid any further awkwardness, Conrad takes a bus alone to Cousins Beach. They all agree to meet up at the beach house for the Fourth of July celebrations.

Back at Susannah’s beach house, Conrad cleans up as the place is renovated. He places a cuddly toy out for Belly. Clearly, he still has feelings for her. I don’t think the fight is over just yet.

Steven surprises Taylor, turning up unannounced before she leaves for volleyball camp. He asks her why she is ignoring his texts. Taylor admits that their relationship freaks her out. She’s scared that Steven will hurt her; she is just that in love with him.

He promises that he won’t hurt her, and then they kiss.

The two new couples then meet up outside of the volleyball camp. Jeremiah and Belly are very much in love, holding hands. Taylor and Steven look to be on similar terms, although they are not as lovey-dovey.

Belly apologizes to her volleyball coach and the rest of the team. They accept her back into the team with open arms. She plays alongside her teammates while Jeremiah cheers her on from the sidelines. Belly ends the series by stating that her future may be unclear, but it is still hers.
