We discuss whether there will be a Season 3 of the Netflix K-Drama series The Uncanny Counter and its renewed or canceled status.
In its follow-up installment, The Uncanny Counter has seen its heroes battle an arguably trickier foe than last time out. At the center of the opposing force is a trio led by the cunning Pil-gwang, a fraudster who becomes hungry for all the power he can get his hands on after tackling a group of Counters abroad.
In addition, there’s another type of antagonist too, one whose actual malevolence is up for debate. Ju-seok, a grief-stricken man unable to cope with the passing of his pregnant wife, falls into an undesirable path when hunting down his alleged killer. This culminates in the firefighter being taken to prison, where an evil spirit finds its way into his body.
From there, a fight between morality and a desire for revenge tussles within Ju-seok, who, in time, becomes acquainted with Pil-gwang, causing plenty of problems for the Counters.
Watching this all unravel has been entertaining, and that has been reflected in the show’s Nielsen rating. The Uncanny Counter season two has remained consistently solid in this department, though it hasn’t (yet) reached the highs of its predecessor in terms of viewership.

As of right now, the peak is at a 5.446% domestic audience share (compared to the previous season’s high of 10.999%), though conceivably, this number could rise for the finale (August 28, 2023).
Regarding international viewership, that, too, has been steady. For a lot of its run, the second season of The Uncanny Counter has found itself in Netflix’s global top ten, with over a million weekly views on each of those occasions.
Here at Ready Steady Cut, we gave season two of The Uncanny Counter a 4/5 rating, saying: “Anchored by a tight script, which is then brought to richer life with colorful visuals and adept acting performances, this supernatural action series builds on what’s come before with a familiar yet inventive story packed with plenty of meat on the bone.”
Will there be a Season 3 of the Netflix K-Drama series The Uncanny Counter – renewed or canceled status
After returning for a second season, which is still somewhat uncommon (though certainly more frequent of an occurrence than it once was) in the world of K-Dramas, there is no news on whether The Uncanny Counter will return for a third installment as of right now.
However, you cannot rule anything out. The concept of The Uncanny Counter does seem to offer the potential for a multi-season format to be adopted, even if currently, with the use of a “complete evil spirit,” it does appear like ways of introducing grander, more threatening villains would be difficult to come by.
With that being said, then, it is a strong possibility that The Uncanny Counter season two’s finale is the last we see of the tracksuit-wearing heroes. The plot and characters used in the show this time around seem to be building to one big climax, and that could well mean this series finishes up here.
Again, though, you can never say never, and we’ll keep you updated should any news arrive about a potential season three.
