Laura Doerman is a 34-year-old woman who was the wife of Chad Doerman, a man accused of killing their three sons with a rifle on June 15, 2023. She and her daughter would survive this attack, and once the police arrived, they arrested Chad. He would be charged on 21 different counts, including murder.

Did Chad Doerman’s wife survive?
Laura Doerman managed to survive the deaths of her three sons, along with her daughter. They went through a traumatic experience when Chad Doerman reportedly killed their three sons at their Ohio home.
On June 15, Chad Doerman would come home from work. He reportedly asked if his wife and three sons would join him in the family bedroom where they could nap. Here, he allegedly retrieved his rifle, a Martin Model HC .22, and shot the four-year-old Hunter. It’s here his wife Laura would try and intervene while his other sons ran away.
Chad’s stepdaughter heard the shots and ran to the room. As she saw what was unfolding, she would tell the others to escape. Clayton, Chad’s seven-year-old son, made it to the woods before his father caught up to him, allegedly shot him twice, and then returned his body to the house.
The stepdaughter and the third son, three-year-old Chase, would run out into the road where Chad Doerman would find them and aimed the rifle at them, but he was out of ammunition.
The stepdaughter would run to the nearby fire department. Chase returned to Laura, where she tried to protect him.
Chad would fight with his wife to release her son, biting her so she’d loosen her grip. Once he got more ammunition, a gunshot would hit Laura’s thumb, causing her to release Chase.
He would then allegedly shoot the child at point-blank range. He then carried Chase’s body near his brothers. Laura tried her best to resuscitate her children, but they were unfortunately dead.
Chad would sit down with the bodies and wait. He did not kill Laura. When police arrived, Chad announced that he “did it.”

What charges does Chad Doerman face?
Chad Doerman faces 21 charges: nine counts of aggravated murder, eight counts of kidnapping, and four counts of felonious assault.
In a taped interview, he admitted having planned the killings since October 2022. Despite this, he entered a not-guilty plea at his court hearing.
As of March 2024, Doerman has entered a new plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. His attorneys claim he was not of sound mind at the time of the shooting. This comes a week after Judge Richard P. Ferenc ruled that Doerman’s Miranda Rights were violated while Clermont County sheriff’s deputies interrogated him. As a result, all statements that Doerman made during his interrogation, including his confession, will not be allowed at trial.
Ferenc has ordered a psychiatric examination that must be completed on or before April 26. It will take place at the Clermont County Jail.
Laura Doerman Has An Active GoFundMe Page
After the murder of Laura Doerman’s children, a GoFundMe page was set up in their memory, allowing anyone to donate money. Her sister, Rachel Hensley Brown, set up the page on June 23, 2023. The fund’s description says that the money raised goes toward expenses such as trauma therapy and more.
Part of the description reads:
“In regards to your amazing generosity, these funds will be used to support my sister and my niece in the struggles they will face moving forward in a world without their tiny shadows.”
The fund has raised over $280.000 out of a $20,000 target, with a current total of 8.9k donations at the time of writing. People have also written messages of goodwill in the comments section.
