We discuss whether there will be a Season 3 of the Crunchyroll anime series Masamune-kun’s Revenge R and its renewed or canceled status.
While fans were eager for a second season of Masamune-kun’s Revenge after the first one ended back in 2017, with each passing year, it seemed further and further from becoming a reality. To say season two’s announcement was nothing short of a miracle after all this time is far from an exaggeration.
At the end of season one, Masamune and Aki weren’t even a couple, and his revenge plan was only starting to get off the ground. When season two came along, it felt like the series had kicked things up a notch, elevating the drama and pacing to a much more enjoyable level.

As the story picked up the pace and really dove into Masamune’s revenge plan, it was easy to see why one season of this wildly unconventional romantic comedy anime series just wasn’t enough.
Although the series sometimes still struggled with unnecessary plot developments or subtitle confusion, season two has proven to be a significant upgrade from the first.
Will there be a season 3 of the Crunchyroll anime series Masamune-kun’s Revenge R – renewed or canceled status
As of the timing of this article, Masamune-kun’s Revenge has not been renewed for a third season. When it comes to anime, that does not mean the series still cannot be renewed; it just takes time. Often, unless the anime is a wildly popular shonen or action series, it can be months until viewers learn if the series has been picked up again, which could be the situation here.
However, when it comes to Masamune-kun’s Revenge, I would not advise getting my hopes up for an additional season. With only 49 chapters in the manga that this anime is based upon, there is not a lot of additional source material left to be covered.
With the way season two has played out, it is very likely the finale episode will cover the last remaining chapters of the manga, ending the series in its entirety.

Although it would be a shame to see the romantic comedy end, especially when season two improved so much over season one, it is always nice to see a series actually get to adapt the entire manga it is based upon.
If a new season were to be approved, it would likely cover original material, which can be hit or miss when it comes to anime or previously unanimated moments from the manga and light novel.
While that may sound unconventional, the romantic comedy series Horimiya recently found success doing something similar, so the idea is not out of the realm of possibility.
For now, I would not get my hopes up waiting for season three of Masamune-kun’s Revenge, especially since season two came out years after season one, but until we get an official announcement or ending, I would not count it out yet either.
