Chuck is a romantic spy drama series that ran for five seasons. It first premiered in 2007 and was created by Chris Fedak and Josh Schwartz and stars Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, and Vik Sahay.

The plot surrounds a computer geek whose life is turned upside down after he downloads critical government secrets into his brain. Both the CIA and NSA assign an agent to protect him, as well as exploit him for his newfound skills, using him for their secret missions.

My Own Worst Enemy (2008)

Christian Slater played the role of a secret agent, Edward Albright, and his alias, Henry Spivey. These two completely opposite characteristics and identities do not know about one another until the carefully constructed psychological wall between them is breached.

Henry and Edward are now in a situation where they are ill-equipped to cope. Despite its complicated theme, it’s an interesting watch and will compel you.

Castle (2009)

This series blends comedy and intelligence well. Richard “Rick” Castle is a millionaire playboy who recently killed off the main character in one of his novels.

When a psychopath commits murders based on his books, Detective Beckett seeks his help to solve the case. He decides to work with her and uses his experiences as research for his novels. They have excellent banter and interesting storylines to keep you entertained through its eight seasons. 

Homeland (2011)

Starring Claire Danes and Daniel Lewis, this espionage thriller television series is extremely exciting and gripping. We follow CIA operative Carrie Mathison, who is on the lookout for an American prisoner who may have joined forces with Al-Qaeda and becomes convinced they are planning to carry out a terrorist attack on American soil.

Archer (2009) 

This one’s for animation fans and has an extremely impressive 14 seasons under its belt. It’s another well-crafted series that is interesting, entertaining, and sometimes utterly ridiculous — all of which will have you laughing.

The show follows the exploits of bumbling yet charming secret agent Sterling Archer, the world’s greatest spy, and his dysfunctional colleagues. 

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013)

Agent Phil Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division) puts together a team of agents to investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown around the globe.

This series is one for all Marvel fans and people into science fiction and dramas. 

Spy (2011)

Spy is a British comedy series created and written by Simeon Goulden. Single father Tim tries to gain respect from Marcus, his intimidatingly intelligent ten-year-old son. One day, Tim is accidentally recruited into MI5 as a trainee spy.

It only had a couple of seasons, but similar to Chuck, it’s interesting and quirky with a fresh and silly storyline. 

Psych (2006) 

Psych is an American detective comedy-drama television series that follows Shawn Spencer, a police consultant who solves cases with his acute observational skills. He is so good at his job that the police think he is a psychic. This mystery comedy-drama has eight seasons to binge-watch.

Monk (2002)

Monk is primarily a police procedural series but exhibits comedy through its exploration of the main characters’ personal lives. The story surrounds former cop Adrian Monk, who was a star officer until he developed an obsessive-compulsive disorder. Now, he struggles with simple everyday tasks but continues to investigate cases.

Covert Affairs (2010)

If drama is what you’re looking for in your series, then you need to watch Covert Affairs. This series follows a young CIA operative, Annie Walker, who is mysteriously summoned to headquarters for duty as a field operative. Her promotion may have something to do with her past, and she begins suspecting authorities in her department.
