Summary
An interesting episode full of plot development.
With plenty of plot development, Episode 12 of Destined with You certainly packed in a lot of detail. Having Hong-jo (Jo Bo-ah) recalls her past life seems like a natural step at this stage while fleshing out Jae-gyeong’s (Ha Jun) story with his father’s arrival could be interesting going into the final few episodes, too.
Fortunately for Hong-jo, Sin-yu finds a way to track her down and rescue her from the pit. In the midst of all this, however, the civil servant has begun to remember her past life, like how she was named Aeng-cho and linked to an incarnation of her current partner. Later, Hong-jo even vaguely recalls writing spells.
Next, Hong-jo tells Sin-yu about the “dream” she had, wondering if it’s the same as his and believing it could really mean the two have intertwined destinies. In response, the legal advisor embraces his partner.
As Seo-goo shares Sin-yu’s suspicions of Joong-beom being involved with the bones found at the park, Hong-jo eats alongside Jae-gyeong, and addresses her friend by name. Following that, the civil servant checks CCTV footage and finds Joong-beom in the area when she finds herself at the bottom of the pit.
So, Hong-jo takes action and travels to Joong-beom’s place of work. There, she bumps into Sin-yu, who is frustrated that his partner didn’t tell him she was potentially pushed into the pit and had suspected the gardener. The two quickly make up and establish that neither should try to visit Joong-beom alone in the future, all while the antagonist watches on from his own CCTV cameras.
At work, Hong-jo finds Sin-yu collapsed after the red hand had come to him during an elevator ride. Subsequently, the legal advisor is driven to the hospital, though he doesn’t yet allow his partner to see him in a vulnerable state.
Spurred on by encouragement from the mayor – and his own father – to marry Na-yeon, Sin-yu decides to meet with his ex. This isn’t so the two can get back together, but rather a way for the legal advisor to show he was aware of the affair with Hyun-seo.
Smilingly, Sin-yu wishes the pair the best and says they “look great together.”
When Hong-jo lets Jae-gyeong’s father outside the apartment and drinks with him, it causes some issues. It’s obvious that Jae-gyeong isn’t pleased to see his parents, who he sternly asks to leave.
As Jae-gyeong ponders whether to give his father the money he asked for, the Mayor requests that Mount Onjo’s development company be changed to Haum, content to collect 30 billion won from performing such an action. Meanwhile, Hong-jo drunkenly turns up to Sin-yu’s apartment after a team dinner, buoyant that Joong-beom has been caught.
During their night together, Hong-jo strokes the cheek of Sin-yu and, in doing so, triggers past life memories of her bloodied hand. Additionally, the legal advisor appears to have an unsavory dream, one kickstarted by his partner caressing his face.
While Joong-beom exits the police station, Sin-yu goes to Hong-jo, who had left his apartment to speak to Eun-wol. Following that, the pair sees snow together so the civil servant can confirm what is already known about the bloodied hand.
To end the episode, we watch a flashback. It shows the past life incarnation of Sin-yu emotionally killing Aeng-cho, seemingly accepting that he’ll be cursed going forward.
