Where was Love is in the Air on Netflix filmed – a breakdown of filing locations

Love is in the Air on Netflix, literally, with the release of a light romantic comedy ideal for curling up with on a rainy afternoon, so the team here has decided to delve into where it was filmed.

The film was written and directed by Adrian Powers, an Australian TV and film director also known for editing and screenwriting.

You might remember him from the TV movie A Royal in Paradise and an episode of the 2020 TV show Discover Indie Film.

This latest project could arguably be his most high-profile production, with the film being released globally on Netflix and starring Delta Goodrem in her first film role since 2005’s Hating Allison Ashley and Joshua Sasse.

Plot-wise, we follow Goodrem’s struggling seaplane pilot, Dana, trying desperately to keep her business afloat and being shadowed by a shady executive, William, who has been sent to pretty much close the business down.

However, when the two meet in opposites attract kind of way, William starts to see the real nature of the business and starts to fall for Dana.

If you are a fan of frothy, light-hearted fare, then this is probably something you may want to check out, and I am pretty sure that Delta Goodrem fans will also have their interest piqued, but this accompanying article is more interested in the production of the movie, so replace your lap tray and loosen your seat belt as we answer the question where was the Netflix film Love is in the Air filmed?

Queensland, Australia

Queensland is a state that you can find in North-eastern Australia. With a population of five and a half million, ten of the thirty largest cities in Australia are found in Queensland.

With the film set in and around the area, it was, of course, obvious that the director would shoot on location, and the scenery is stunning.

With plenty of coastal areas and stunning vistas and a film that focuses on flying across the state and visiting different communities, the location would be an important part of the production, especially for those who live in and know the area.

So filming exactly where the script takes the characters would have been a pivotal decision, helping to authenticate the premise of the movie. The film was also produced in conjunction with Screen Queensland and the Queensland Government, so it is pertinent that the locations used would be important.

Immediately in the film, we see Dana flying across stunning blue seas and azure skies, soaring above small islands in the Pacific. The cinematographer makes the most of the luscious greens of the woodlands, making sure we see the best of the Queensland landscape.

London

William is heading from London to Queensland to get the plot moving, but apart from some establishing shots, it looks like the shots in the UK may have been studio-bound and filmed in Australia, possibly Brisbane.

When the plot finds Dana heading to London, it seems that stock footage and a studio set create the illusion of the UK once again.

Brisbane

Brisbane is the capital of Queensland, and there is a Brisbane Unit attached to the film’s production, leading us to think that some shots may have been recorded there, possibly the studio-based footage and the London scenes.

Whitsunday Airport Shute Harbour, Airlie Beach

Located in Queensland, it looks as if the airport scenes for Dana’s small plane may have been recorded at this location.

The small real-life airpark offers shuttles between a few of Queensland’s popular tourist areas, and it seems that is where the airpark scenes were shot.
