Pet Sematary: Bloodlines on Paramount+ is a prequel that addresses the sins of the father who disturbed the peace. Director Lindsey Anderson Beer integrates flashbacks seamlessly to show the history of the town. Whether it was showing Timmy, Manny, and Jud’s childhood friendship or the settlers who overtook the Mi’kmaq Chief’s land, these were vital pieces to the story that all have a bearing on the ending of Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, which we unpack below.
Caution: Spoilers follow.
The land where the animals were buried in the spiral was originally for their spirits to watch over the people. Someone buried Ludlow there, and it took a turn for the worse. The settlers found him chewing on someone’s intestines with blood dripping down his face. Anderson Beer focused more on the early stages of the lore for the founder’s children to understand the consequences.
Jud’s father, Dan Crandall (Henry Thomas), insisted that his son leave Ludlow because he knew what was lurking around the corner. Dan never told Jud that he was one of the founding families because of what came with protecting the people of Ludlow.
Pet Sematary: Bloodlines Ending Explained
The Founding Families
One night when Jud couldn’t sleep, he felt like someone was watching him. He peered out his window and saw that Timmy was on his lawn looking up at his window. He grabbed his shotgun and ran outside, only to find the picture of him, Manny, and Timmy together at their old treehouse. Except, the faces were scratched out. Jud had no idea that a truck was coming at him full speed and he got out of the way at the last second.
He sees Manny on the other side waiting for him and this is where they rekindle their friendship. They question what’s going on with Timmy, and it’s always better to see a priest during this time. The church has all the records and it would be better for them to go there. While they search through the archives, Jud sees that the Crandall name is one of the founding members. Anderson Beer then adds a journal that was passed down from generation to generation with Dan (his father) reading it on the porch. The words on the page stated that he would pass this journal down to his son so he could take care of the town.
Who kills Donna?
Timmy kills Donna. When Manny and Jud went to the church, Timmy crept into Donna’s home and even though she struggled against him, he ended up killing her and burying her in that cemetery.

After this happens Donna becomes undead and goes to track Norma, who is still in the hospital recovering from the dog bite. Norma goes to clean off Donna’s feet because she’s covered in dirt and then a piece of her skin peels clean off. Donna then goes after Norma and captures her. She brings her to this tunnel and keeps her tied up as bait so Jud and Manny go looking for her.
How is Timmy defeated at the end of Pet Sematary: Bloodlines?
The answer is also yes. In the third act, it becomes a cat-and-mouse game. Half of them go into the barn where they know Timmy is hiding, while the other half go into Baterman’s home looking for him as well. While in Baterman’s home, Donna appears and attacks her brother Manny. Jud tells him that she is no longer his sister and that he needs to shoot her.
While trying to aim, Jud’s father, Dan, comes in and shoots her. They try to get Manny up from the floor because Donna is stabbing his leg. However, it was short-lived because Dan didn’t shoot her in the eye as the journal said. Donna comes back to life and stabs Dan in the stomach. Jud instinctively takes the shotgun and shoots Donna.
Timmy’s dad comes in from behind them with flames engulfing the house saying he found the tunnel to escape. As they go through the tunnel, they find Norma’s necklace and they split up. Norma is being drowned in mud and they can’t seem to find her. Timmy also kills his father, rips out his intestines, and leaves him in the tunnel for Manny and Jud to see. They find Timmy and chase after him only for Manny to get trapped with wires while Jud is left on his own to save Norma and kill Timmy.
From across the lake, Timmy is strangling and drowning Jud while Manny watches. He takes the flare gun and aims it directly at Timmy, hoping the shot will reach him. Fortunately, it does and Timmy drowns at the bottom of the lake.
