It certainly took its time getting here, but just like that, Arthdal Chronicles season 2 will come to an end on October 15, 2023, with the eagerly anticipated Episodes 11 and 12. After a successful first season on Netflix and a brutal four-year wait after that, Sword of Aramun gave K-Drama fans a reason to renew their Disney+ subscriptions and tune in every week. Now, speculation is logically turning to the possibility of Arthdal Chronicles season 3, both in terms of whether it’ll actually be commissioned and, if it is, where and when it might stream.

Here, I attempt to answer all of these questions with as much reasonable speculation as possible.

Arthdal Chronicles Is Not Renewed for Season 3 – Here’s Why

At the time of writing, Arthdal Chronicles has not yet been renewed for a third season.  Of course, the wait between the first and second seasons was considerable thanks to all kinds of complicated issues, not least of which was platform limbo, so nobody would quite assume that the turnaround would be instantaneous.

However, given the show’s success on Disney+ internationally and on TVING in Korea, I can imagine that a lesson has been learned. Fans are ravenous for more content in this universe, and the odds are that they’re going to get it.

To support this claim, may I direct you to a representative from Studio Dragon, who told media outlets in February 2023 that they were “currently preparing to launch filming for a new season of Arthdal Chronicles.” This implication is rather clear, and it would make sense given the viewing figures and critical reception.

After the show’s success, I’d predict that Arthdal Chronicles Season 3 would stream on Disney+.

The quote above supports this. If there were going to be issues with the show’s platform following the second season, it would be very unlikely that the production team would already be working on the third season.
