Just in time for Halloween, The Devil’s Plan has come to an end. No, not the satanic demon, but the first season of Jung Jong-yeon’s latest gameshow, which is now on Netflix. This pits 12 people against one another in a house, has them live together and play extremely difficult games against one another to win a cash prize. Now that Season 1 has ended, a winner of The Devil’s Plan has been declared, and audiences know who took 500,000,000 won back home with them.

Reality game shows have a reputation for being too easy at times, as they often don’t require contestants to strain their brains too hard. But The Devil’s Plan features puzzles that could have only been designed by the Devil himself, combining a person’s maths, memory, and literacy skills in mind-boggling ways.

The Devil’s Plan Competition Format

The aim of the game in The Devil’s Plan is for 12 people to compete against each other in difficult and brain-busting challenges to win a cash prize. All the contestants live in the same house to play two types of Matches. The first type of Match is called a Main Match, where everyone competes for “pieces” that can be used to buy power-ups and in-game advantages. Pieces are awarded and lost based on performance in these games.

If a player loses all of their pieces, they are immediately eliminated from the game. The two players with the least pieces at the end of a Main Match are sent to prison. Prize Matches allow all the remaining contestants to try and win a new game to add money to the final prize. Players can work alone or as a team, and they usually work alone in Main Matches and together in Prize Matches.

Who is the winner of The Devil’s Plan Season 1?

Ha Seok-jin, a 41-year-old actor, was able to intelligently play and beat the competition, and in the end, he was able to win the cash prize. The final episode saw him beat ORBIT Jaeh-yuk, a 40-year-old former policy advisor for Blue House in a tense memory and math game, one that saw them tie for points going into the final round. But Ha Seok-jin eventually prevailed and was able to win the cash prize of 500,000,000 won.

Where is Ha Seok-jin now?

Ha Seok-jin has been using the time since the competition finished to spend time enjoying his interests. He flew to Singapore to watch his favorite UFC fighter and enjoyed the local cuisine. Towards the end of summer, as temperatures were rising, Ha Seok-jin got away from the heat by visiting the Higashiyam Reserve. He’s kept up with several of the competitors he met on The Devil’s Plan, going out for different meals with them.

He has also been a host on several shows. In 2022, he appeared on Local Dining Table, Suspicious Neighbor, and The Dreamers. The actor has also appeared in connection with several advertisements and sponsorships, including most recently for Samsung BeSpoke to represent their new line of fridges.

Ha Seok-jin has yet to reveal any new or upcoming projects that he has planned, but this is unlikely the last that audiences will see of the actor.

Who were the runner-ups?

Across the course of the show, Ha Seok-jin was able to defeat the other 11 competitors in his rise to the top. The first to leave the competition was Guillaume Patry, a 41-year-old e-sports player, who left on the second day. Lee Hye-Sung, a 30-year-old freelance announcer, and Kim Dong-Jae, a 24-year-old college student and pro poker player, both left on day three. Cho Yeon-Woo, a 34-year-old professional Go player managed to make it to day five, and the 36-year-old actress Lee Si-Won lasted until the evening on day five.

Eliminations were thick and fast on the sixth day, with the 31-year-old YouTuber Kwak Joon Bin, the 31-year-old orthopedic surgeon Seo Yoo-min, Boo Seung kwan, a 25-year-old singer, and Park Kyeong-Rim, a 44-year-old comedian, all leaving the competition at once. Seo Dong-Joo, a 40-year-old US-based lawyer, managed to make it to the evening of the sixth day, missing out on the final challenge.

ORBIT jaeh-yuk, the 40-year-old former policy advisor for Blue House, managed to make it to the final day, but unfortunately couldn’t beat Ha Seok-jin in the final match.
