What happened to Russ McKamey?

As far as I know, there is nothing quite like McKamey Manor in the UK — at least not yet. This most extreme of haunted house experiences, attracting people to attend a “tour” that subjects them to horrific abuse, physical and psychological, has shocked and disturbed many people, led to all manner of controversies and allegations, and been the focus of numerous articles and YouTube uploads. Cable tie yourself to the seat and relax as we answer the essential question of what happened to Russ McKamey, the manor’s controversial founder.

Russ McKamey is the driving force behind the extreme experience, which a Hulu documentary, Monster Inside: America’s Most Extreme Haunted House, has taken the time to explore using real participants, sharing their experiences, and revealing the trauma that they still live with after attending their “tour”.

A forty-page waiver and medical check must be completed before you can take part, and it seems that this is in place to make sure that the business cannot be sued afterward. Still, controversy and complaints have dogged founder Russ McKamey, and the new Hulu show does not look like it will do anything to negate this.

Who is Russ McKamey and is he still alive?

Russ McKamey is the mastermind behind the manor, and as far as we can tell he is still very much alive.

With Hulu releasing the documentary there has certainly been a lot of interest in McKamey. Originally the attraction was on his own property in San Diego, before complaints would see McKamey relocating to Tennessee.

As the experience became more and more extreme, it would lead to many calling for the manor to be closed down, citing McKamey as a sadist who enjoyed torturing the attendees a little too much.

McKamey ensures that a forty-page waiver is signed by those who enter, and the waiver means that the staff, and McKamey himself, cannot be held responsible for anything that happens to the participants. Plenty of people have had their regrets about taking part, including some who were hospitalized afterward.

As far as Russ himself, he manages to keep his personal life out of the public eye, although a report in The Guardian talks about his wife Carol Schultz and his three children, but not much is known about the man himself.

YouTuber Danny Berk has extensive coverage of the subject on his channel including extensive footage of Russ being interviewed. His channel has been threatened with legal action by McKamey, as Danny has made various allegations against him.

Has anyone been injured in McKamey Manor?

Yes, many people have been injured in McKamey Manor. There has been a whole catalog of people with varying degrees of injury.

People have had multiple cuts and bruises, but there have been instances of broken bones too, resulting in people being hospitalized.

There are also cases of people being traumatized psychologically, so they needed therapy after the event.

People have also been vocal on social media, reporting that the manor should be shut down, and expressing concern about Russ McKamey and his motivations.
